Once upon a time, the United States literally taught the rest of the world how to make cars. We were the ones that invented the assembly line. We were the ones that showed the rest of the world what mass production could do for an economy. For decades, we produced more cars than anyone else and we sold more cars than anyone else. Detroit was known as "the Motor City" and our manufacturing prowess dominated the planet. But now all of that has changed. Japan makes far more vehicles than we do today. So does Germany. As you read this, state of the art production facilities are going up all over China. Meanwhile, the U.S. auto industry continues to rot and thousands upon thousands of good automotive jobs continue to leave our shores. The rest of the world is making cars better than we are, they are making them cheaper than we are and they really don't care that many of our formerly great manufacturing cities are turning into rotting, stinking hellholes. The U.S. auto industry was once a symbol of American dominance, but now it is just a symbol of American decline. If we want to remain a great nation, then we need to start becoming great at making things once again.

The following are 17 facts about the decline of the U.S. auto industry that are almost too crazy to believe....

#1 The average age of an automobile in the United States has gone up more than 50% since 1990 and is now sitting at an all-time record of 10.8 years. The average length of a marriage in the United States that ends in divorce is only 8 years.

#2 Germany made 5.5 million cars in 2010. The United States made less than half that (2.7 million).

#3 When you add up salary and benefits, the average auto worker in Germany makes $67.14 an hour. In the United States, auto workers only make $33.77 an hour in salary and benefits.

#4 Back in 2000, about 17 million new automobiles were sold in the United States. During 2011, less than 13 million new automobiles were sold in the United States.

#5 Do you remember when the United States was the dominant manufacturer of automobiles and trucks on the globe? Well, in 2010 the U.S. ran a trade deficit in automobiles, trucks and parts with the rest of the world of $110 billion.

#6 Japan builds more cars than anyone else on the globe. Japan now manufactures about 5 million more automobiles than the United States does.

#7 In 2010, South Korea exported approximately 12 times as many automobiles to us as we exported to them.

#8 According to the New York Times, a Jeep Grand Cherokee that costs $27,490 in the United States costs about $85,000 in China thanks to new tariffs.

#9 U.S. car companies are spending hundreds of millions of dollars building shiny new automobile factories in China.

#10 In 1970, General Motors had about a 60 percent share of the U.S. automobile market. Today, that figure is down to about 20 percent.

#11 The combined U.S. market share of the "Big Three" American car companies fell from 70% in 1998 to 53% in 2008.

#12 Detroit was once known as the "Motor City", but in recent decades automobile production has been leaving Detroit at a staggering pace. One analysis of census figures found that 48.5% of all men living in Detroit from age 20 to age 64 did not have a job during 2008.

#13 Today, only Chrysler still operates an automobile assembly line within Detroit city limits.

#14 Since Alan Mulally became CEO of Ford, the company has reduced its North American workforce by nearly half.

#15 Today, only about 40 percent of Ford's 178,000 workers are employed in North America, and a significant portion of those jobs are in Canada and Mexico.

#16 The average Mexican auto worker brings in less than a tenth of the total compensation that a U.S. auto worker makes.

#17 In the year 2000, the U.S. auto industry employed more than 1.3 million Americans. Today, the U.S. auto industry employs about 698,000 people.

Sadly, it is not just the auto industry in America that is falling apart. In fact, almost everywhere you look in our economy (and in our society as a whole) there is decay and decline.
For example, our infrastructure was once the envy of the entire globe. Today, U.S. infrastructure is ranked 23rd.

Recently, I wrote an article entitled "24 Statistics To Show To Anyone Who Believes That America Has A Bright Economic Future". In that article, I discussed many of the long-term trends that are systematically destroying this nation.

Just because we have had it so good for so long does not mean that it will always be that way.

As a nation, our wealth is declining. A decade ago, the United States was ranked number one in average wealth per adult. By 2010, the United States had fallen to seventh.

We lived off the wealth created by previous generations for a long time, but that was not enough for us. We always wanted more. Eventually we started going into massive amounts of debt so that we could keep this bubble of "false prosperity" going.

Today, when you add up all forms of debt in America, it comes to over 50 trillion dollars.

We are a great nation that is in an accelerating state of decline.

We have got to quit living off of the past accomplishments of previous generations.

We have got to quit being so lazy and decadent and spoiled.

There is absolutely no guarantee that America will always be a great nation. In fact, when great nations fall, it usually happens very quickly.

I'm still proud to be an American, but the decay and the decline that I see all across this country sickens me.

The claim that the Roman emperor Hadrian, eager to punish Jewish inhabitants of Judea after the Bar Kokhba Revolt, officially changed the name of the region to "Syria Palaestina" or simply "Palestine" in 135 AD and forced the Jewish community into exile is dubiousat best, especially when, by then, the terms "Syrian Palestine" and "Palestine" had already been in use for over six hundred years.

With Christmas three weeks away, an undercover investigation has revealed the bleak realities of life in Chinese toy factories serving a market worth £2.8bn a year in the UK alone.
Big brands such as Disney, Lego and Marks & Spencer pay only a fraction of the shop price of products to the factories that make their toys [see footnote]. Last summer – as factories geared up to cope with demand for the Christmas period – investigators spent three weeks in the industrial cities of Shenzhen and Dongguan. In some cases, they found that employees:

■ worked up to 140 hours overtime a month;

■ were paid up to a month late;

■ claimed they were expected to work with dangerous tools and machines without training or safety
measures;

■ had to work in silence and were fined up to £5 for going to the toilet without permission.

Perhaps the most insidious effect of the long hours and poor wages was how it tore families apart, separating mothers and fathers from their children for all but a few days a year. Many workers were too afraid to speak to the investigators from human rights group Students & Scholars Against Corporate Misbehaviour (Sacom), but two women did agree to talk on condition that their names were changed...

Controversial “anti-Semitic” vodka billboard taken down in NYC

A billboard for Wodka vodka in NYC has been taken down and destroyed after complaints that the advertisement's message is anti-Semitic. The New York Times reported that the billboard featured a long-haired dog wearing a yarmulke and another dog wearing a Santa hat with the words, "Christmas quality, Hanukkah pricing," alongside the photo.

The backlash against the billboard was nearly instantaneous. Ron Meier, regional director of the Anti-Defamation League, called it "crude and offensive."

"To use the Jewish holiday in dealing with issues of money is clearly insensitive and inappropriate," Meier told the paper.

Brian Gordon, head of MMG, the advertising company behind the billboard, said the billboard's message was not intended to be offensive. "We thought people would perceive it as 'ha ha quirky.' But people perceived it as offensive, and because of that, we pulled it." Mr. Gordon, according to the Times, was "quick to point out" that he also is Jewish.

Wodka was quick to formally apologize as well, offering this explanation via its Twitter account:

"Although rarely serious, we apologize to anyone we may have offended through our holiday campaign and are removing our billboard immediately."...

Can you even believe the hypocrisy - it is ok to use Christian Holidays in dealing with issues of money and that is not insensitive and inappropriate - but oh no - don't you dare do it with a Jewish Holiday!

Dear Friends,

Our Holy Mother the Church wants us (on this last Sunday of the Liturgical year) to reflect upon the end of this world as we know it. In today’s Gospel we are told what signs to look for. One of the most frightening signs must be that which was foretold by Daniel the Prophet: The abomination of desolation standing in the holy place.

We have asked, and considered, many times before, what this means. We are drawn over and over again to the same conclusion: it is the destruction of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. We find in the footnotes of the Douay Rheims Haydock Bible commentary the following:

“The abomination of desolation … will be more completely fulfilled by Antichrist and his precursors, when they shall attempt to abolish the holy sacrifice of the mass. Saint Hyppolitus, in his treatise de Anti-Christo, mentioned by Eusebius, Saint Jerome, and Photius, thus writeth: ‘The churches shall lament with great lamentations, because there shall neither be made oblations, nor incense, nor worship grateful to God. … In those days the liturgy (or mass) shall be neglected, the psalmody shall cease, the reciting of Scripture shall not be heard.’ – The prophet Daniel (12:11) calculates the reign of Antichrist, from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away; which, by able commentators, is understood of the sacrifice of the mass, which Antichrist will endeavor to suppress.”

The holiest place upon earth must be there where Jesus Christ is made present and resides – upon the altars of the true Catholic Church. The holy of holies is not in just one place but is every tabernacle in the sanctuaries of the true Church throughout the world. The Mass is the daily and continual unbloody Sacrifice of Calvary, and is offered in these holy of holies. Jesus Christ truly resides in these tabernacles both Body and Soul.

We have witnessed in our own days the gradual but methodical replacement of Jesus on the altars and in the tabernacles with a true abomination. The tabernacles were removed; a table was put in place of an altar; a meal was put in place of a sacrifice; humanism was put in place of divine worship; “ministers,” “moderators,” “presiders,” or “leaders” have replaced sacrificing priests. Along with the women and laity that have invaded the sanctuaries, have come evil spirits. That which was once sacred has now been made common and profane. They have taken over many of these places that were once only for God.

There is almost a complete abomination. The destruction is not complete because God – in His mercy – has seen fit to provide us with a few true bishops and priests and they have set up humbler sanctuaries than we had in the past, but ones that are none-the-less true and holy sanctuaries where Jesus Christ is truly made present upon our altars in the Sacrifice of the Mass and where God resides hidden under the appearance of bread in our tabernacles.

Even though these remnant priests and sanctuaries continue, and temporarily hold back the impending end, the time is truly drawing nearer day by day because the world turns further and further away from God and His remnant clergy and sanctuaries.

We are given the opportunity today to reflect upon this impending end, not to lead us to hopelessness and despair, but rather to wake us up to the need to shake off the lethargy and filth of this world and to strive with all our being to obtain and increase our love for God day by day. It is our love for God that inspires us with the love of His Church, the sacraments, and His Word, but most importantly His real presence and sacrifice in the true Mass. Let us do all that we can to encourage and support this effort by our prayers, sacrifices and offerings always striving never to lose the Holy of Holies or allow it to be completely taken over by anti-christs. Let us guard not only the physical (brick and mortar) sanctuaries but especially the spiritual and bodily ones (our own souls and bodies), for we are truly temples of God. If all else is lost, let us never lose our faith and trust and especially our love for God. In this way as long as we are here on earth Jesus will find sanctuary at least in us.

German Catholic Church resolves to sell their Porn Publishing company after story goes mainstream

The Catholic church in Germany is to sell Weltbild, its bookselling arm, after the unit admitted last month to publishing pornographic novels.

Last month it was reported that German publishing company Weltbild, which is 100 percent owned by the Catholic church, was profiting through the sale of erotic novels.

Weltbild is one of Germany’s main book enterprises, with annual sales of 1.6 billion euros and a workforce of 6400. Its interests include general publishing, a main national bookshop chain and book clubs.

Catholic leaders were outraged that the profitable company’s book range included steamy pulp novels with titles like Boarding School for Sluts and The Lawyer’s Whore and advice on how to practise esoteric superstitions.

Germany’s 27 bishops met this week to press the 12 bishops who co-owned Weltbild to end the investment after Weltbild defended its commercial policy of publishing whatever books met market demand.

Weltbild, based in the southern city of Augsburg, said it welcomed the decision to seek new ownership “without delay”.

Pope Benedict XVI, who urged German bishops in September to get rid of worldly wealth, appeared to influence the debate, telling Catholics they should be “energetically opposing the distribution of erotic and pornographic material”.

The bishops have ordered the company’s executives to find a buyer for the publisher “without any delay,” a statement said on Tuesday. It had been impossible to “adequately restrict the internet-supported dissemination and production of media that contradicted the ideals of the shareholders.”

The Church has faced a storm of criticism in recent weeks over a number of erotic and esoteric titles published by Weltbild. The row erupted following a report in a publishers’ trade magazine in October, which found that searching the keyword “Erotik” on Weltbild’s website turned up more than 2,500 results, including the erotic novels Schlampen-Internat (“Sluts’ Boarding School”) and Anwaltshure (“Lawyer’s Whore”).

The Church reacted by saying it would stop the further “sale of potentially pornographic content,” and a search for “Erotik” on the website no longer produces any results, but it has now taken the more drastic measure of selling its stake altogether.

Pope Benedict XVI indirectly addressed the row earlier this month, when during a reception for the new German ambassador to the Vatican, he said it was time to “energetically limit the dissemination of pornographic or erotic content, especially via the internet.”

“We cannot earn money during the week with what we preach against on Sundays,” German Cardinal Joachim Meisner told the media. Meisner has been long-term critic of the publisher, and his diocese sold its Weltbild shares in 2008.

Weltbild is one of Germany’s biggest book publishing houses, and owns or part-owns many of Germany’s high street bookshops, including Hugendubel and Jokers. At the moment, 12 of Germany’s 27 Catholic dioceses plus the pastoral care service for the military in Berlin own just over 24 percent of the shares in Weltbild.

After ten years of being internally warned by faithful Catholics, including in a 70-page dossier sent to all of Germany’s main bishops, the scandal of the German bishops’ ownership of a publishing company finally hit the mainstream media.

German Catholic author Gabriele Kuby, who has for years pointed out to bishops various shortcomings in the Catholic Church in her nation, said that the worst thing about the current public scandal is the hypocrisy.

Each of the affected bishops received 70 pages of documentation in 2008 detailing the fact that the publishing company was selling the pornographic titles. She noted that most bishops ignored the communications, not even bothering to reply. The Archdiocese of Munich did reply, said Kuby, but she says their response was “arrogant and spiteful.”

In reaction to questioning from the mainstream press, church officials claimed it was a filtering problem which resulted in the oversight, adding that the matter will be dealt with.

Another faithful Catholic, Bernhard Mueller, the editor-in-chief of the Catholic magazine PUR, was himself involved in trying to have the bishops resolve the scandal internally.

Now, PUR’s front page story covering the current state of affairs is titled “Bishops as porn producers.”
In his coverage of the now-public scandal, Mueller describes the 10-year-long attempt to convince the bishops to take action on the matter. He concludes: “But over the years, all internal efforts to bring the scandal have come to nothing.”

The reaction from the public, as can be seen in reader comments beneath the mainstream media reports, has been to ridicule the Catholic Church. Mueller summed up the public view succinctly with the phrase: “Preach chastity and sell pornography.”

How can anyone remain in that bogus "church"? Not only would true Catholics never - EVER have any part in the distribution of pornography - if they somehow did unknowingly own such a company - they would not just sell it to someone else - they would simply shut it down. How does selling it to someone else stop the flow of pornography?

It is that time of year - and I have to show off my daughter Anna's first deer - and it is a nice buck too!

She did it on her own too. She works for an elderly lady in the summer helping her on a hobby farm butchering chickens and gardening. This lady said that Anna could hunt on her land and Anna got this buck with no help from me. I might need help from her! - I have yet to even see a deer this rifle season!

The former House speaker left open the possibility that his consulting firm received between $1.6 million and $1.8 million. Gingrich says he received a portion of that for providing "strategic advice for a long period of time" after he left Congress.

That amount is significantly higher than the $300,000 figure Gingrich was questioned about last week.

Gingrich spoke with reporters in Iowa on Wednesday. He defended Freddie Mac's role and said every American should be interested in expanding housing opportunities. The federally backed mortgage lender has become a focal point of anti-government sentiment because of the housing crisis.

Dear Friends,

Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.

We easily see the image and inscription on the coin but not so readily the image and inscription that is placed upon our bodies and souls. Our catechism informs us that we are all made to the image and likeness of God. Based upon this alone we must see the necessity of returning ourselves to God. Added to this are the graces that we received in Baptism and the other sacraments. Our souls have been washed and purified and the indelible image of God has been emblazoned upon them.

We are temples of the Holy Ghost and marked with the image of God. It cannot become any clearer that it is we ourselves that belong to God and we must return ourselves to Him.

The tithing of money, flocks, grain, herbs, etc. is only a substitution for the gift of ourselves that God demands from us. God commanded an offering of the first fruits of our labors from the beginning. The tithe or ten percent takes the place of ourselves; that is why the offering must be of the first fruits, it must be the best that we have to offer.

When the Israelites left their bondage in Egypt, we see among the many plagues, one that struck the first born male that opened the womb. The Israelites learned that the first fruits of their labors and their offspring belong to God. Rather than demanding the first male from every family, God accepted a dedicated family to take the place of all the others; the tribe of Levi. God accepted this family of priests as an offering for everyone else.

Today we do not have a hereditary priesthood, but rather a more perfect one where God calls men to willingly offer themselves for His honor and glory and for the benefit of their fellow men. Added to this is the sacrifice of all the religious, both men and women. These chosen souls offer themselves on behalf of all men. They pray the psalms every day, offering the prayers that the world owes to God. These are the ones that give themselves completely over to the original plan of God – offering themselves and all that they have to Him. They bear within and without their bodies and souls the image of God; and their entire life is spent in rendering themselves to God.

The priests and religious also have become the offering for the rest of the world. They represent the tithe of the rest of men – the first and best fruits that we have to offer. It is a sad state of affairs that we find ourselves in today. There are very few true priests and religious and so likewise the offering to God is much less than the original plan of offering God the first fruits or the tithe of ten percent.

We owe this debt to God and unless this debt is paid we will find that we are unacceptable to Him. Our offerings (if we even make an offering) are not the best that we have. We have taken the best for ourselves and the world and will give whatever is left over to God. How often do we hear that religious have wasted their talents in the convent or cloister when they could have done so much in the world? The real question we should be wondering about is, how so many can waste their talents in the world when they could have done so much for God and man in the convent or cloister.

Too many religious and priests have forgotten that their first duty is to God and their offering is first to Him. They rather think of serving their fellow men and have become great “humanitarians” rather than holy and acceptable offerings to God on behalf of their fellow men.

Let us pray for true vocations to the priesthood and the religious life. Let us pray that those who have been called will make themselves holy, pleasing, and acceptable to God. Let us offer these priests and religious both our material and spiritual support because they have freely chosen to offer themselves on our behalf to God.

Let us encourage the best of our young to give themselves to God, rather than to the world. Only in this way will our offerings be acceptable.

We still must completely belong to God but the priests and religious offer us an opportunity to pay a tithe of what we have. This tithe on our behalf is acceptable to God as we pray for and support them and they cooperate and fulfill their obligations.

Another example of why most "conservative" organizations are just as evil or perhaps even more evil than their liberal counterparts.

I was a longtime member of the NRA - National Rifle Association, but am no longer. I stopped supporting that organization many years ago when the Campaign Finance Reform Act was being proposed. The NRA was rightly completely against it and ran articles in their magazines stating that they will run out of office any politician that supported it. Then, George W. Bush Jr. came out in support of it - and that was the last we heard of it from the NRA. I realized then what the NRA was really about.

Over the years since then I noted the NRA backing several pieces of legislation that were actually unconstitutional and against gun rights.

Below is a prime example of what the NRA is. This first article (click on it to enlarge) from the NRA's magazine the American Hunter - read the very top story of US Congressman Leonard Boswell. They state that this anti-gun hypocrite Democrat is A-rated by the NRA:

One more related issue. Many are not aware - but legislation is being introduced that would in essence make private sales of firearms illegal. The legislation would require a background check on ALL firearms sales. This would prohibit private individuals from selling hunting rifles and any other type of guns to other private individuals.

Someone wrote to the "conservative" Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan regarding their concerns over this legislation. This is the nonsense that they were replied to with:

Increasing number of disabled Israeli children sue for not being aborted

JERUSALEM, November 10, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - “Wrongful life” lawsuits, in which doctors are held liable for not discovering fetal abnormalities that might have prompted parents to abort their child, have become so common in Israel that the government has set up a committee to investigate the issue, New Scientist reports.

According to magazine, wrongful life claims are more prevalent in Israel where a higher rate of genetic disorders caused by consanguineous (connected by kinship) marriages has fueled a “pro-genetic testing culture.” The county has seen an estimated 600 wrongful cases since the first in 1987.

While similar lawsuits in the United States and Canada are often brought by the parents of disabled children, it is common in Israel for the children themselves to demand compensation for the fact that they were not killed in-utero.

Asaf Posner, a medical malpractice lawyer who sits on the government’s Matza committee which is charged with investigating the issue, has obtained judgments averaging around 4.5 million shekels (about $1 million U.S. Dollars) for clients with spina bifida and cystic fibrosis.

Posner defends the lawsuits, arguing that the medical profession would “become corrupt” without criticism.

Rabbi Avraham Steinberg, a medical ethicist at Hebrew University-Hadassah Medical School in Jerusalem, disagrees. Steinberg has criticized the lawsuits as psychologically damaging.

“I find it very difficult to understand how parents can go on the witness stand and tell their children ‘it would have been better for you not to have been born,” said Steinberg, who also sits on the Matza committee.

Steinberg claims that some malpractice lawyers are travelling to small communities around the country where inbreeding is more common in search of potential clients.

He also noted that the prevalence of such lawsuits has caused doctors to overstate the likelihood that an unborn child may have a disability, possibly driving an increase in the number of abortions.

“More testing means more false positives – and that means more abortions, because geneticists don’t always know if results indicating the possibility of chromosomal abnormalities are meaningful. I’d like to see a study of aborted fetuses to see how many are diseased,” he said.

T-shirts sold by the Twin Rivers Police Officers Association have this message: "U raise 'em, we cage 'em," surrounding a picture of a young child behind bars.

On Monday, community leaders and child advocates said the T-shirts are highly offensive and could validate feelings of mistrust for the Twin Rivers' school police force. The agency has been under intense scrutiny over complaints it has overstepped its authority.

"There is nowhere on the planet where it is OK to wear a shirt like this," said Ed Howard, senior counsel for the University of San Diego's Children's Advocacy Institute, after seeing the image of the shirt.

The quote and picture is on the back of the shirt. The Twin Rivers Police Officers Association logo is on the front.

Egypt closes Pyramids over 11-11-11 'Ceremony of Love'

Supreme Council of Antiquities succumbs to pressure over rumors that Jewish Masons were on their way to Cairo to claim pyramids as their own.

Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) closed the Great Pyramids on Friday after protesters said various groups, among them Jews, planned to attend a numerologist ceremony on the Giza Plateau. -
Egyptian media reported that some Egyptians feared that the event would be used by Jewish Masons to reclaim the Pyramids as ancient Hebrew structures, denying Egyptians their claim to the pharaonic monuments. -
One SCA employee claimed that a crew of 1,200 Jews were planning to attend the event, crowning the mightiest of the three structures with a Star of David in order to assert the claim that Jewish slaves built the pyramids, and not the ancient Egyptians, Egyptian daily Al Ahram reported.

Egyptologists have never proven whether or not Jewish slaves took part in the construction of the monuments, or even settled in Egypt in the time when Old Kingdom pharaohs commissioned their massive mausoleums.

Former SCA Secretary General Abdel Halim Noureddin told Al Ahram Jewish Masons have been trying to cap the Great Pyramid since 1931 with the Jewish emblem, so this instance should not be surprising. -
According to a report from British daily the Telegraph, a Polish numerologist group had, in fact, received permission from the Egyptian government to hold a ceremony at the pyramids in order to protect the world from "cosmic forces" aimed at destroying Earth next year.

The resulting commotion surrounding the event, including the attendance of Jewish Masons, pushed the SCA to cancel the event, called the "Ceremony of Love." -
Andrzej Wojcikiewicz, director of the Warsaw-based group Dar Swiatowida, described the ceremony, saying two pyramidal crystals would be placed inside the Great Pyramids at Giza in order to bolster their protective powers. The day chosen, 11-11-11, or November 11, 2011, was important because of its numerological significance.

Dear Friends,

The parable that Jesus gives us today reminds us of Hell. The servant that was without compassion for his fellow servant (after he had received so much from his master) was delivered to the torturers until he paid all the debt. As long as the man is in prison and being tortured he has no means of making any money so he therefore will never be released because the debt will never be paid. Those who are condemned to Hell likewise are given over to torturers and they too will never be released from their prison or torture because they can merit nothing from all their suffering in Hell.

It is a frightening thing to be cast into prison here on earth, but this is nothing compared to the eternal prison in Hell. The temporal prisons must end sometime – either with our release or with our death. In Hell there is no release or death to escape its horrors.

Every sinner is an indebted servant. We are all servants if we consider our catechism that teaches that we were made to: “know love and SERVE God in this world.” If we succeed in doing this then we will be admitted into the Kingdom of Heaven. The sinner though is an unworthy servant. The sinner takes the things of God and abuses them in such a way that amounts to stealing from God. For example pride, which is at the root of all sins, takes from God the honor and glory that belongs only to Him and attributes it to ourselves. We as sinners have become thieves – stealing that which only belongs to God. Our position as servants does not excuse our actions or condone them in any way – on the contrary because we are servants and have been entrusted with so much we become all the more guilty. To whom much has been given much will be required.

If we could begin to tally our sins and offences against God we would soon discover that we have become far more indebted than the unfaithful servant in today’s parable. All hope is not lost though. If we will only humbly confess our crimes to God’s minister; resolved with the help of God’s grace to do better; He is always ready to forgive us everything. It is a most wonderful and beautiful experience to receive this forgiveness and consolation. Words fall short in trying to express this consolation. Only those who have experienced it can understand it.

We are commanded to love our neighbor as ourselves. As we have been indebted to God, likewise our neighbor often becomes indebted to us. As God has been merciful to us and is ready and eager always to pardon us, so we must do likewise towards our fellow man. We must give as we have been given to. Whatever our neighbor might owe to us, it is always miniscule compared to what God has forgiven us. So when our neighbor asks our forgiveness we must be eager to give it just as God is eager to forgive us.

It is truly in giving that we receive. When we are in a position to give to someone else we become like God. We become more closely conformable to Him. We must be very cautious though because with every step closer to God and perfection there is an equal danger in becoming unjust and prideful and/or vain in stealing that which belongs to God. We are called to draw nearer to God and to become like Him, but at the same time we must never forget our position and remember that we are not gods.

While always remaining humble and having a loving heart for God and true charity for our fellow man we draw closer to God and receive greater graces. God has an infinite treasure of gifts and He is eager to give them to us as long as we persevere as good and faithful servants. The more that we are able to give and do for our fellow man, so much the more God will reward us with greater gifts. Far from depleting what we have when we forgive our debtors, we actually increase our treasures as God rewards us many times over for whatever we do for our neighbor for the Love of Him.

TORONTO, November 1, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Because organ donors are often alive when their organs are harvested, the medical community should not require donors to be declared dead, but instead adopt more “honest” moral criteria that allow the harvesting of organs from “dying” or “severely injured” patients, with proper consent, three leading experts have argued.

This approach, they say, would avoid the “pseudo-objective” claim that a donor is “really dead,” which is often based upon purely ideological definitions of death designed to expand the organ donor pool, and would allow organ harvesters to be more honest with the public, as well as ensure that donors don’t feel pain during the harvesting process.

Should organ donors be dead before organs are harvested? According to three experts, no.

The chilling comments were offered by Dr. Neil Lazar, director of the medical-surgical intensive care unit at Toronto General Hospital, Dr. Maxwell J. Smith of the University of Toronto, and David Rodriguez-Arias of Universidad del Pais Vasco in Spain, at a U.S. bioethics conference in October and published in a recent paper in the American Journal of Bioethics.

The authors state frankly that under current practices donors may be technically still alive when organs are harvested – a necessary condition to produce healthy, living organs. Because of this, they say that protocol requiring a donor’s death is “dangerously misleading,” and could overlook the well-being of the donor who may still be able to suffer during the harvesting procedure.

“Because there is a general assumption that dead individuals cannot be harmed, veneration of the dead-donor rule is dangerously misleading,” they write. “Ultimately, what is important for the protection and respect of potential donors is not to have a death certificate signed, but rather to be certain they are beyond suffering and to guarantee that their autonomy is respected.”

Instead of the so-called Dead Donor Rule (DDR), the authors propose that donors should be “protected from harm” (i.e given anesthesia so that they cannot feel pain during the donation process), that informed consent should be obtained, and that society should be “fully informed of the inherently debatable nature of any criterion to declare death.”

The doctors note that developing the criteria for so-called “brain death,” which is often used by doctors to declare death before organ donation, was an “ideological strategy” aimed at increasing the donor pool that has been found to be “empirically and theoretically flawed.” They also criticize the latest attempts to create new, even looser definitions of death, such as circulatory death, which they argue amount to simply “pretending” that the patient is dead in order to get his organs.

The legitimacy of “brain death,” “cardiac death,” and even “circulatory death” - which can be declared only 75 seconds after circulatory arrest - as actual death has been an ongoing debate in public commentary on organ donation. Many experts assert that doctors familiar with organ donation are aware that the terms, intended to delineate a threshold of probable death, is different from actual bodily death, rendering highly uncertain the moral status of organ donation.

Meanwhile, countless stories have emerged of “miraculous” awakenings following brain death, providing weight to the arguments of doctors and others who say that the process of procuring viable organs not only fails to ensure that a patient has certainly died, but is impossible unless a body is still technically alive.

Dr. Paul Byrne, an experienced neonatologist, clinical professor of pediatrics at the University of Toledo, and president of Life Guardian Foundation, said he was not surprised at the recent statements, which he said merely reflect a long-open secret in the organ donation field.

“All of the participants in organ transplantation know that the donors are not truly dead,” Byrne told LifeSiteNews.com in a telephone interview Tuesday.

“How can you get healthy organs from a cadaver? You can’t.”

Byrne affirmed that giving pain medication to organ donors is routine. Doctors taking organs from brain-dead donors “have to paralyze them so they don’t move so when they cut into them to take organs, and when they paralyze them without anesthetics, their heart rate goes up and their blood pressure goes up,” he observed. “This is not something that happens to someone who’s truly dead.”

The neonatologist said he has personally studied the theory of “brain death” since 1975, seven years after the first vital organ transplant in 1968, and has found that death criteria has continually been changed to accommodate a demand for fresh organs. The idea of a “dead donor rule” did not even emerge until the 1980s, he said, and didn’t enter common parlance until years later.

“There really is no dead donor rule, although they’re trying to make it seem like there is,” said Byrne.

Byrne led a Vatican conference on “brain death” criteria in 2008 in which a large group of international experts, many of whom are world leaders in their fields, attested to the illegitimacy of “brain death” as an accepted criterion for organ removal.

The comments by the Canadian and Spanish experts have come under fire from the organ donor community, some members of which have expressed concern that the statements could lead people to opt out of donating their organs.

“In the overwhelming majority of cases, the concept of death is easy, obvious and not really subject to any complex interpretation. It’s very clear,” Dr. Andrew Baker, the medical director of the Trillium Gift of Life Network, which oversees Ontario’s transplant system, told the National Post. “They’re dead, you can see it, there is no return of anything.”

James DuBois, a health ethics pro-fessor at Saint Louis University, also criticized the comments, saying that removing the Dead Donor Rule could “have negative consequences: decreasing organ donation rates, upsetting donor family members and creating distress among health care workers.”

Lawyers for a man who pleaded guilty Thursday in the first ever federal conviction for illegal organ trafficking say he was performing life-saving services for severely ill people.

Levy Izhak Rosenbaum, from New York, admitted in a Trenton federal court to brokering three illegal kidney transplants for desperate New Jersey-based customers in exchange for payments of $120,000 or more.

He also pleaded guilty to a conspiracy count for brokering an illegal kidney sale.

Attorneys Ronald Kleinberg and Richard Finkel say Rosenbaum never solicited clients.

He simply agreed to help desperately ill people by finding them kidney donors, they said.

The lawyers claim the surgeries occurred in prestigious American hospitals and were performed by experienced transplant experts.

They did not, however, name the hospitals involved, the Associated Press reports.

The lawyers claimed that the donors he arranged to give up kidneys were fully aware of what they were doing.

But anthropologist and organ trade expert Nancy Scheper-Hughes, who described Israel as a 'pariah' in the organ transplant world, has said in the past that many of the donors were desperately poor immigrants from eastern European countries such as Moldova, Romania and Russia.

They say the recipients are leading healthy lives thanks to Rosenbaum.

The 60-year-old was arrested two years ago following a huge investigation into corruption in New Jersey.

The probe led to 46 arrests, including several rabbis, the New York Daily News reports.

He was nabbed after an FBI informant who was pretending to be a businessman told him he was looking for a new kidney for a sick uncle

Rosenbaum was caught on tape boasting that he had brokered 'quite a lot' of illegal transplants.

He told the informant: 'I am what you call a matchmaker.'

'I bring a guy what I believe, he's suitable for your uncle ... I've never had a failure.'

Prosecutors said he bought the organs from vulnerable people in Israel for as little as $10,000, then sold them here for a minimum of $120,000.

New Jersey's U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman said: 'A black market in human organs is not only a grave threat to public health, it reserves lifesaving treatment for those who can best afford it at the expense of those who cannot. We will not tolerate such an affront to human dignity.'

Rosenbaum faces a maximum five-year prison sentence on each count, plus a fine of up to $250,000. He also agreed to forfeit $420,000 in property that came from the kidney sales.

He is a member of the Orthodox Jewish community in the Borough Park section of Brooklyn, where he had told neighbors he was in the construction business.

Under 1984 federal law, it is illegal for anyone to knowingly buy or sell organs for transplant.

The practice is illegal just about everywhere else in the world, too.
But demand for kidneys far outstrips the supply, with 4,540 people dying in the U.S. last year while waiting for a kidney, according to the United Network for Organ Sharing.

As a result, there is a thriving black market for kidneys around the world.

Art Caplan, the director of the Center for Bioethics at the University of Pennsylvania and a co-chairman of a United Nations task force on organ trafficking, said kidneys are the most common of all trafficked organs because they can be harvested from live donors, unlike other organs.

He said Rosenbaum had pleaded guilty to one of the 'most heinous crimes against another human being.'

Mr Caplan said: 'Internationally, about one quarter of all kidneys appear to be trafficked.

'But until this case, it had not been a crime recognized as reaching the United States.'

Student loan debt surpasses $1 trillion

I listen to the radio when I drive sometimes and I hear Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, and other neo-cons constantly making comments about the handful of Occupy Wall Street protesters who care complaining (and rightly so) about Student loan debt.

This story shows that the total student loan debt is a tad over 1 trillion dollars.

What the neo-cons never mention is that we gave 12.8 Trillion dollars in bailouts to billionaire zionist bankers and businesses of taxpayer money. Even if we paid off all the student loan debt in the nation - we are not even close to what was handed over to criminals!

Dear Friends,

Jesus Christ is both our King and our God. We often today see our rulers as mere mortals compared with other cultures and times where the ruler is often given divine status among the people. It is therefore a little more difficult for us to appreciate the title of King when we speak of Jesus Christ.

In today’s gospel we hear our Lord say that His kingdom is not of this world. The kingdom of Jesus is that of Heaven. He has come to this earth to invite us all into His kingdom. Jesus has told us much about this kingdom in heaven by way of parables and examples. We have been told many times what is expected of us so that we may be permitted to enter the narrow gates of heaven. To condense it though it is simply said that we must Love God with our whole being and our neighbor as we love ourselves.

We too often see those that God has placed over us as distant, cold, uncaring and so our obedience tends more towards servile fear and submission. It is often true that earthly authority is distant, cold, and uncaring, hence we tend to think the same of all authority; and we form a false opinion that God is like them. Their failure to love, care, and fulfill their God given office and position as God would like them to is very often a cause of scandal to the rest of men.

We must rise above such scandal. They may not measure up as they should, but we must always respect and obey them (in all that is not sinful) because they have been placed above us by God. In obeying our lawful superiors we are indeed obeying God. Jesus Christ the King is their role model just as He is ours. If they fail to imitate Him as they should, it is all the more reason for us to imitate Him with ever more solicitude.

Jesus has taught us in the Lord’s Prayer to pray for God’s will and kingdom to come here on earth just as it is in heaven. We should thus, await eagerly for His will and kingdom to come to this earth. God expects more from us than just praying and waiting, He also expects us to do our part to make it happen. We must begin by changing our lives and making them conform to the demands of the Kingdom of Heaven. We can never enter that Kingdom if we are not in conformity with it; much less will we ever be able to do our part in hastening the Kingdom of God here on earth if we do not seriously begin to amend our lives. We must strive to love God more and more every day. As this love increases, it will begin to manifest itself more and more in our actions.

Our actions in turn will help us to increase our love for God, but will also speak volumes to others of our love for God and His Kingdom. In this manner we become ambassadors in helping our prayers come to fruition: God’s will and Kingdom here on earth. God will not force His kingdom upon us; He offers it by way of invitation. We must see that it is good and desirable (more desirable than anything else) and then cooperate with His grace so that we may enter into it – today in our own lives and eventually in eternity.

As we honor our King today let us resolve to honor Him as such every day for the rest of our lives. Let us see in Jesus a most loving Brother and King. Let us resolve to honor and obey those He has placed over us for the love of Him. Let us pray for our superiors realizing what a heavy burden God has placed upon their shoulders. If we find ourselves in the position of holding God given authority let us daily petition God for His assistance and humbly strive to rule and guide as He would have us do so. Construction contractors love high paying, built-by-the-lowest-bidder jobs. Construction companies love socialism. Once the structure is built it must be made habitable. The place needs 10,000 stoves, 10,000 refrigerators, 20,000, ceiling fans 5 million miscellaneous electrical fixtures and about 1 million light bulbs. Who provides all that stuff? General Electric. General Electric loves socialism. General Electric loves socialism so much it even went as far as buying the National Broadcasting Company in 1986 to sing its praises throughout the land 24 hours a day 7 days a week. They love it even more when they don’t have to contribute to the socialist state by paying taxes.

It is that time of year again when I am making Christmas wreaths in all of my spare time - I will try to update the blog as much as possible - but if I am busy at my day job - I won't be able too as often as I would like.

I do have an update on the post regarding the Union employees in my hometown - who were told that if they did not agree to another 10% cut in pay (they had already taken a 20% pay cut, lost all their paid holidays, vacation, and many other benefits - including the company contribution to the 401K) the company would close the factory.

Well, the workers finally had enought - they voted no - and told them to close the factory - they did not care - they had taken enough cuts.

And guess what - now the factory is not going to close and the workers will not take a pay cut - hmmmm - funny how that works ain't it?

PARK FALLS, Wis (WSAU) The Weather Shield factory in Park Falls will stay open after union workers agreed to new concessions. They voted 58-32 on Monday night to accept a new contract.

Workers will not see a pay cut. But they won’t get the annual cost-of-living pay raise of 2-to-3 percent over the next two years. A contract from earlier this year had been rejected by Teamsters Local 663. The company said without the concessions, the Park Falls facility would have been closed.

Many workers said they’d rather forego small raises in 2012 and 2013 than have to try looking for new jobs.

Contract talks are ongoing at another Weather Shied facility in Mosinee.

I suspect that they could have even held out longer and kept their crummy 2-3% pay increase too - but since they are paid so poorly anyhow - it really did not make enough of a difference for them to even fight about it.

This should be a clear sign that if workers stick together they can hold what little that they have.

This should also be a lessen to Union workers to tell their Union leaders where to go when they encourage them to keep taking cut after cut after cut - remember - the Union steward wanted them to sign the original 10% cut in pay!

I was out of town for part of the weekend and I thought I would share a bit of the experience.

My daughter Clare enjoys the music of a band called Evanescence. The band was playing in Milwaukee at the Eagles Ballroom. She really wanted to see them and I agreed only if I went with her.

I was not expecting to enjoy it, but I must say I was very impressed by the raw talent of this group of musicians.

Here is a video taken at the show we were at:

After the concert I asked a security guard if there was any possible way my daughter could meet the band for an autograph.

To make a long story short he said to wait by the tour bus.

So we went outside and there were several tour buses all around the building. Another guard told us to wait by a particular one.

We waited for over an hour and then someone said that the band was on the other side of the building signing autographs - so Clare and I ran for it.

We got there just as the lead singer (Amy Lee) was getting into the bus.

The guitar players and drummer were still outside visiting with fans, but they were starting to leave and head for the bus.

It was freezing outside and they were wearing the same clothes they had on for the show (short sleeve T shirts).

I stopped one of the guitar players and asked him if he would sign Clare's ticket and he was very nice and said he would but that the could not talk to her long because he was honestly freezing.

He signed the ticket and I think Clare had quite an evening to remember.

I also had a good time. True talent is rare to come by in the popular music world - but this band is an exception - at least from what I saw.

The Republican candidates for President agreed at the October 18 CNN Las Vegas debate that, despite the federal deficit crisis, they wanted to continue foreign aid spending — with the exception of Texas Congressman Ron Paul.
Asked where he stood on continuing foreign aid, former Godfather's Pizza CEO

Herman Cain responded that "we ought to continue to give foreign aid to our friends like Israel." Minnesota Congressman Michele Bachmann also agreed that foreign aid should be continued: "No, we should not be cutting foreign aid to Israel. Israel is our greatest ally." Frontrunner Mitt Romney acknowledged that "we're spending more on foreign aid than we ought to be spending," but he refused to call for an end to foreign aid. Texas Governor Rick Perry also declined to call for a complete end to foreign aid, though he offered that "I think it's time to have a very serious debate about defunding the United Nations."...

Union Members Vote Down Company Wage Proposal

PARK FALLS - Renee Podrez has worked for Weather Shield in Park Falls for 11 years, but after Tuesday's narrow union vote, she won't much longer.

"The people are tired of the lies. We already took a 20 percent cut in pay, we have no paid holidays, no 401(k), they don't match that, the insurance there is horrible," Podrez said. "The people just couldn't do it no more."

Behind closed doors at the Park Falls Library, Local Union 662 members discussed Weather Shield's proposed pay cuts as a last effort to save the nearly 150 jobs in the community.

Ultimately, the proposal was voted down 47 to 41.

"They came back to us with the union trying to take roughly another 10 percent from us," Podrez said. "Some of us don't have 10 percent to give. Because you've already taken 20 and taken so much from us. You can't take any more."

Many workers, including union representative Mark Parsons, thought the company's proposal was fair.

"My meeting with management led me to believe that this was a legitimate situation," Parsons said. "I still believe that. And their concessions would have been greater than what our concessions would have been."

Despite the vote Tuesday that will now ultimately lead to the closure of the Park Falls Weather Shield facility, some employees believe this could actually be a blessing in disguise.

"I think when they walked out of there, saw what the vote was, they pretty much had a big burden lifted off of them because now they know exactly what's going to happen to them and no more lies," Podrez said.

But that's a sentiment at least 41 union members may not share.

"There are no options being given to any Park Falls employees at this time," Parsons said. "Unemployment is extremely high in the area and job opportunities are very slim."

A reality many will now face headed into this winter.

Dear Friends,

Once again Our Lord is showing us that the cure of the soul is much greater than the cure of the body. In today’s Gospel we see the paralytic receive the forgiveness of God. “Take courage, son; thy sins are forgiven thee.” Who but God can forgive sins? Rather than understand that Jesus therefore is God many chose rather to condemn Jesus as a blasphemer. So in order to give physical proof of His divinity Jesus offers them a lesser miracle to open their eyes when He heals the paralytic’s body.

We very often do not properly understand and appreciate the spiritual blessings that we have been given, because we too, have become more concerned with the physical. A living healthy body is not nearly as important as a living healthy soul. If we are spiritually sick or dead a healthy body is of no real importance to us. Our bodies have been created for our souls, so without the soul the body has no real purpose for being.

Those who spend this life in the state of mortal sin have a soul that is dead and though they may seem to be alive and to do good things they are of no merit to themselves. They probably only continue to exist in this realm because God wishes to give them more time to repent or because they are of benefit to others. For themselves, they have become their own worst enemy. The longer they live in this state the more difficult it will be for them to get out of it.

There is no reason for us to remain in sin, now that Jesus has made it so easy for us to free ourselves from it. Jesus has empowered His priests to forgive sins in His Name. A simple humble confession of our sins with true sorrow and purpose of amendment opens up for us the gates of God’s grace and mercy. When circumstances make it impossible for us to confess to a true priest, then we are taught to make an act of contrition striving for perfect contrition and resolve to confess as soon as we have the opportunity. There is no reason for us ever to wait in sin when we can immediately repent once we have discovered our mistake in giving into sin. If we are truly repentant we will be truly forgiven.

Very often we will discover after having confessed our sins and received absolution that our physical life improves also. What we see in the paralytic is true for us too. Once the burden of our souls is lifted from us, our bodies then can be healed. We all too often in the face of physical ailments seek first a doctor for our bodies rather than one for our souls. The doctor of the body can ameliorate our physical difficulties and pain but he cannot stop the inevitable physical death that is gradually overtaking us day by day. Even more importantly the doctor who treats the body does nothing for the soul. A guilty conscience will weigh down the body and make it sick no matter how good the physical treatments may be.

On the other hand, the doctor of the soul often heals both body and soul. Very often when the burden of sin is lifted from us our physical bodies likewise improve. Yet, strangely enough we call the medical doctor before we call upon God’s priest. Our thoughts are to ignore our souls and the sins that weaken and destroy it, while we focus all our attention upon the body looking for all those things that make it sick and break it down. We forget that it is the soul that keeps the body going, and it should be to the health of our souls that we should look before everything else.

God can cure both body and soul, but He wants us to prioritize and see that our soul should be first and that we should even be willing to sacrifice our bodies for the sake of our soul. Sadly though, we more often than not sacrifice our souls in an effort to save our bodies and we always fail in this endeavor because our bodies must eventually die no matter what. If we would only seek the health of our immortal souls we would often find that the cure of our bodies will follow just as it did in the case of this paralytic in today’s gospel.

In Japan the ratio of pay for a ceo compared to that of the average worker is…11 to 1.

In Germany that ratio expands to a dizzying.....12 to 1.

And in the United States…..it’s 475 to 1.

To put this in perspective - if you make $20.00 an hour - the CEO makes $9500.00 an hour - but hey - it is those greedy union workers that are causing prices to rise and ruining the economy! Yet in Japan if you made $20.00 an hour the CEO would make $220.00 an hour. In Germany - the CEO would make $240.00 an hour compared to the USA CEO's $9500.00 an hour!

But it is the fault of the average people that the economy is in the shape it is in!

This was found in the ancient city of Herculaneum in the "House of Bicentenary and is exactly as it was found - it was a very small room with no other furniture.

Herculaneum was destroyed in 79AD along with the more well known city of Pompeii. These two ancient Roman cities were completely buried by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius.

This looks very much like a Catholic Chapel and to me is strong evidence that the first Christians worshipped as Catholics still worship today.

Contrary to what the liars in the Zio-media would have you believe - this is the main theme of Occupy Wall Street:

This guy is spot on when he says Wall Street follows the premise of Communism!

I do not believe that Ron Paul is any better - he has failed the litmus test of 9/11 - so to me he is just as worthless as all the rest.

But the main point here is that the media is trying to spin the Occupy movement was some sort of liberal communist movement - this is not true - though they are trying to take the movement over. The root of the movement is to end the Federal Reserve and to regulate Wall Street (capitalism).

Unregulated capitalism is no better than communism. Both create a ruling class that forces the rest of mankind into servitude and slavery.

Regulated capitalism is one of the best economic systems the world has seen - unregulated capitalism is one of the worst.

Dear Friends,

Our Lord uses the occasion of the Pharisees testing Him to teach us about Himself.

The first lesson: “What is the greatest commandment?” In telling us what God demands of us first and foremost Jesus is telling us a great deal about God and therefore Himself. St. John tells us that God is love. This greatest and first commandment then is to imitate God and love what God loves in the manner in which He loves. It is impossible for us to love infinitely as God does because we are finite creatures, but it is possible for us to love completely with all our heart and soul. This is the first commandment the second is to love the other creatures (principally men) that God loves. Since they are our fellow creatures it is only logical that we love them as we love ourselves.

God is love. This is who He is or even what He is. God is perfection in every area that we may consider; He is omnipotent, omniscient, and all holy, etc. Love though shines forth more splendidly than the rest. It is because of God’s love for men that He sent His Son to this earth. It was love for us that brought Jesus to sacrifice Himself for us. It is God’s love that continues this sacrifice in an unbloody manner (In the Mass) every day until the end of time. It is Jesus’ love even for these Pharisees that prevents Him from striking them dead right then and there. God is always patient because He loves. He is always ready to forgive because He loves and knows our weaknesses. He is always just because He loves. It is love that seems to move God in all His other perfections.

In calling upon us to imitate Him, Jesus wishes for us to love. God loves us and desires only the best for us, but He has given us a free will and will not impose love and happiness upon us. God invites us to love and gives us many reasons to love, but we must make the decision to either love or not love.

St. Paul tells us that the greatest of all virtues is love. The others will pass away but love will abide forever. If we wish therefore to have eternal life we must love. It is not just any love that we are speaking of but it is a true and ordered love according to the will of God. “Self-love” is often condemned as a vice because it is a disordered love that places one’s self above or before God. If we truly love ourselves then we will not allow this vice to invert the proper dispositions of our love.

Love comes or develops in many different degrees. Love is not just all sentiment. Too often we consider that we do not love if we do not feel affection, or emotion. The will influences every aspect of our being including our love. We must often begin with a weak or unclear love in our intellect placed there simply by an act of the will, then as we cooperate with the grace of God and actively pursue a greater and deeper love, it grows until it completely consumes us. As our love draws nearer to perfection we will be able to speak with St. Paul: not I, but Christ living with me.

The second lesson is that Jesus is God and Man. Jesus loves as God loves because He is God. In asking the Pharisees how David can call the Christ his son, Jesus is offering us a most powerful lesson, which the Pharisees missed because they had blinded themselves.

For the redemption to be applicable to us it is necessary that a fellow human pay that price, but for the redemption to be sufficient it is necessary that an infinite Being make it. Therefore we clearly understand that it is true that Jesus is both God and Man, and in this way He was able to save us from our sins and open for us the gates of heaven. This too is all brought about because of God’s love for us. Jesus is God and therefore He loves us as God. Jesus is Man and therefore He loves us as Man. We in a sense have a double claim to God’s love for us. Knowing this only increases our responsibility to reciprocate that love and to share it among one another as He has done for us.

It is not asking too much of us when God commands us to love Him with our entire being and to love our neighbor as we love ourselves (even our enemies). Cooperating with His grace we can do this most perfectly. We may have to begin small and build up with patient prayer, study and reflection, but we can do it. If we wish to enter into heaven with God then we must do it. Let us therefore earnestly ask and seek this love from God, striving to increase it day by day.
