My wife happened to look at the jobs site of our local TV News website - here is the link:

Look at these jobs and the requirements and then look at the horrible rates of pay.

This one really cracked me up - look what they require for a lousy $10.49 an hour - a single person could not live on that pay - let alone a family!

And the unthinking masses think we do not need labor unions today!  We need them now more than ever!

Job Duties:Under the primary supervision of the Vice President of Electric Operations, perform, with various degrees of supervision (depending on experience) numerous routine and specialized duties potentially involving climbing construction and maintenance operations on the Cooperative's distribution system. General duties may include but are not limited to: construction, installation and/or removal of and maintenance of electrical apparatus, troubleshooting, non-energized (depending on experience and job classification) overhead and underground electric lines, in accordance with written safety rules. Operate personal computer, calculator, and two way radio. Summer help - temporary position, limited to less than 1000 hours.
Qualifications:Vocational/Technical Degree Required. Technical college degree/diploma in distribution line school is required. Class A - Commercial Motor Vehicle Desired. Class B - Commercial Motor Vehicle Desired. Class C - Commercial Motor Vehicle Desired. Class D - Regular (Auto, Light Truck, Moped) Required. 18 or older Required. Previous utility experience is helpful. Must be skilled in the use of a personal computer. Must be skilled in dealing and communicating with people, both within and outside the organization. Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy are required. Must have ability to manage multiple tasks and work with technical information including reading maps. Must possess visual acuity and manual dexterity, as well as the ability to constantly listen and communicate orally, stand, walk and sit; to frequently bend, stoop, and squat; may lift in excess of 50 pounds, reach above shoulder level, climb, balance, crawl, kneel, crouch, and twist. Requires repetitive motions with hands and fingers. Must hold a valid Wisconsin Drivers License. Must reside within 20 minutes of Phillips headquarters. Must pass full medical exam and drug and alcohol testing prior to hire.
Pay Rate:$10.49 Per Hour
Hours:Full-Time, 40 Hours Per Week Minimum
