OK, but the new thing is a letter from Mother Teresa defending the guy after the first round of charges. Partly as a result of that letter, he was reinstated, and went on to abuse 8 more children.
She didn't just use bad judgment in picking a spiritual director. (Most of us have done that at least once, I have.) She knew about the charges but ignored them "for the sake of his priesthood".
Now there you have it in a nut. The attitude that a priest can do anything he wants, and no one, not his Provincial, not the Bishop, not an alleged "saint", will call him down for it.
So the American criminal courts had to do it for them. For shame.
