Sermon

Dear Friends,

Jesus is asleep. In His human nature we find that Jesus slept just as we do, but in His divine nature we know that God never sleeps.

Our lives have many occasions when we are tempted to think that Jesus is asleep and does not know what is going on. When He seems to be the farthest from us, our crosses and burdens are the heaviest. He is truly never far from us, we are only made to think or feel this way.
God is not unaware of our crosses and burdens. On the contrary He is very much aware of them, because He has either directly willed them for us or He has permitted them for us. Jesus was not unaware of the storm that was raging upon the sea as He slept. He as God called up that storm. The Apostles had seen many miracles upon land but they had not yet seen the power of God upon the sea. It was for this reason that God summoned this storm and just as quickly silenced it.
This miracle confirmed even more clearly that Jesus is God because all of creation obeys His word. (All that is except men who with their free wills often choose to rebel against Him.) With the increase of faith in the Apostles we begin to see the wisdom and goodness of Jesus as He slept in the boat. This apparent evil (the storm) was truly a real good for the Apostles because it ultimately increased their faith.
This storm also increased their humility because they as grown men and experts upon the water were forced to cry out for help as little children. In this humbled state we find that they were better receptive to the graces of God than they were before.
The same is true in our own lives. We are given crosses and trials by God for our own benefit. What seems to us to be great evils are most often, great goods. The storms in our lives have been put there for us by a loving God, Who only desires to lead us closer to Himself.
Rather than complain against God asking if He really sees and understands or questioning His motives, we must learn to be always grateful even if we do not comprehend. Our faith must override our fear and we must come to trust fully and completely in Jesus no matter how much it may hurt.
The crosses, the storms, the burdens, etc. are all given to us by God. He may allow evil men or evil spirits to become instruments in bringing these things to bear upon us, but ultimately it is God that has permitted it and He has only our best interest at heart. We read of Job who always laid the ultimate cause of his misery at the feet of God: “The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away.”
When we understand the good evil men do for us we realize that we have become their debtors. We realize that it is necessary for scandals to arise and they are for the good of those who love God, but they are very detrimental to the ones who are the cause of them. “It would be better for that man had he not been born.” In this light we can see how Jesus and the saints prayed for those who persecuted them. The saints saw their executioners as great benefactors for them because the murderers were the means by which the saints merited and entered into heaven. And at the same time they had great pity and compassion upon them because they saw what these poor souls were doing -- damning themselves.
In all of our troubles, let us set aside our fears and worries, knowing full well that Jesus is not asleep. He is not far away. He only appears to us to be that way because it is necessary for us. Let us use every cross and tribulation as a spur to our faith so that we turn with ever more love and confidence as humble children calling out to their Heavenly Father. Let us search and call out to Him with greater earnestness and insistence. Let us be ever grateful rather than resentful for our crosses and burdens, recalling the joy of the Apostles to be found worthy to suffer these things for Christ.

Unbelievable new items for Breast Cancer Awareness:

http://www.inktees.com/cgi-bin/cpshop.cgi/breast_cancer_tshirts/inktees/3391497

these are being sold by colleges to raise money for the American Cancer Society

http://hilo.hawaii.edu/news/view/7222

btw - don't ever give money to the American Cancer Society - they have known for decades that the "birth control pill" is a leading cause of Breast Cancer - but they will not even address it.
Here is an example of a Super Bowl Ring that the winning players receive. This comes from the Journal Sentinel (Milwaukee) this morning.  It almost seems hideous to me - it's so gaudy! The "world" is obsessing over this football game to the point that if you want to save your sanity, you have to completely turn off the television and retreat from the world!

I couldn't help but think of this verse from St. Paul whose feast day is today - his conversion:

1 Corinthians 9:25
And every one that striveth for the mastery, refraineth himself from all things: and they indeed that they may receive a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible one.

From Courthouse News: Verizon has sued three Long Island towns on behalf of observant Jews. The villages prohibit the phone company from posting “lechis” on utility poles - little strips that create an “eruv,” or zone where Orthodox Jews can carry objects or push baby carriages or wheelchairs to synagogue on the Sabbath and on Yom Kippur.

Verizon New York and co-plaintiff Long Island Lighting Co. say the towns must allow Orthodox Jews to tie the lechis to utility poles, to comply with religious observances,.

The defendants in the federal complaint are the Village of Westhampton Beach, the Village of Quogue and the Town of Southampton...

I came across this quote in a book and though it would be worthwhile for the women of today to consider their vocations a little more carefully. It is rather dated but I think still of interest.
A Challenge to the Woman
“Many American women must choose between individual careers on the one hand and the family and race survival on the other. Motherhood is the greatest career ever known for woman in ancient and modern times, and fatherhood alone can bring men to the highest development of soul.
The greatest job on the planet today is that of mothering. To do it well requires the highest qualities of hand, brain, and heart. All the grace and traditions of the ages and all of the science and psychology of the times here find their noblest opportunity and constant demand. Mother should know the chemistry of foods, for she feeds the family, balances the rations, stokes the human furnaces for the daily work of father and the growth of the children. She holds their life, endurance, longevity and success in her hands. She must be physiologist, physician, sanitary expert, bacteriologist, dietitian, physical culturist, nurse, ready to give first and last aid. Mother is on the job all the time, but the doctor only a few minutes, so that intelligence in her counts for a hundred times more than it does in him. Mother must be psychologist, educator, historian, religious leader and story teller; when the children are grown up she should be eugenist and vocational director.
Just for a moment, compare the brains and education necessary for the high class mother’s job with that required for copying letters on a typewriter, selling ribbons over a counter, teaching history from a text book, or even drilling Latin declensions in to reluctant boys. The expansion and intensification of woman’s education for the great job of home and motherhood builds a foundation on which every structure of health, morals, culture, material and spiritual welfare of the society must stand.
If our women fail in their willingness or preparation for motherhood, the race must go down, and our power, property and institutions will pass to other races that have sounder and more normal views o this vital matter.”

Yellowstone Has Bulged as Magma Pocket Swells

Some places saw the ground rise by ten inches, experts report..

Yellowstone National Park's supervolcano just took a deep "breath," causing miles of ground to rise dramatically, scientists report.

The simmering volcano has produced major eruptions—each a thousand times more powerful than Mount St. Helens's 1980 eruption—three times in the past 2.1 million years. Yellowstone's caldera, which covers a 25- by 37-mile (40- by 60-kilometer) swath of Wyoming, is an ancient crater formed after the last big blast, some 640,000 years ago.

Since then, about 30 smaller eruptions—including one as recent as 70,000 years ago—have filled the caldera with lava and ash, producing the relatively flat landscape we see today.

But beginning in 2004, scientists saw the ground above the caldera rise upward at rates as high as 2.8 inches (7 centimeters) a year. (Related: "Yellowstone Is Rising on Swollen 'Supervolcano.'")

The rate slowed between 2007 and 2010 to a centimeter a year or less. Still, since the start of the swelling, ground levels over the volcano have been raised by as much as 10 inches (25 centimeters) in places.

"It's an extraordinary uplift, because it covers such a large area and the rates are so high," said the University of Utah's Bob Smith, a longtime expert in Yellowstone's volcanism.

Scientists think a swelling magma reservoir four to six miles (seven to ten kilometers) below the surface is driving the uplift. Fortunately, the surge doesn't seem to herald an imminent catastrophe, Smith said. (Related: "Under Yellowstone, Magma Pocket 20 Percent Larger Than Thought.")

"At the beginning we were concerned it could be leading up to an eruption," said Smith, who co-authored a paper on the surge published in the December 3, 2010, edition of Geophysical Research Letters.

"But once we saw [the magma] was at a depth of ten kilometers, we weren't so concerned. If it had been at depths of two or three kilometers [one or two miles], we'd have been a lot more concerned."

Studies of the surge, he added, may offer valuable clues about what's going on in the volcano's subterranean plumbing, which may eventually help scientists predict when Yellowstone's next volcanic "burp" will break out.

Yellowstone Takes Regular Breaths

Smith and colleagues at the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Yellowstone Volcano Observatory have been mapping the caldera's rise and fall using tools such as global positioning systems (GPS) and interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR), which gives ground-deformation measurements.

Ground deformation can suggest that magma is moving toward the surface before an eruption: The flanks of Mount St. Helens, for example, swelled dramatically in the months before its 1980 explosion. (See pictures of Mount St. Helens before and after the blast.)

But there are also many examples, including the Yellowstone supervolcano, where it appears the ground has risen and fallen for thousands of years without an eruption.

According to current theory, Yellowstone's magma reservoir is fed by a plume of hot rock surging upward from Earth's mantle. (Related: "New Magma Layer Found Deep in Earth's Mantle?")

When the amount of magma flowing into the chamber increases, the reservoir swells like a lung and the surface above expands upward. Models suggest that during the recent uplift, the reservoir was filling with 0.02 cubic miles (0.1 cubic kilometer) of magma a year.

When the rate of increase slows, the theory goes, the magma likely moves off horizontally to solidify and cool, allowing the surface to settle back down.

Based on geologic evidence, Yellowstone has probably seen a continuous cycle of inflation and deflation over the past 15,000 years, and the cycle will likely continue, Smith said.

Surveys show, for example, that the caldera rose some 7 inches (18 centimeters) between 1976 and 1984 before dropping back about 5.5 inches (14 centimeters) over the next decade.

"These calderas tend to go up and down, up and down," he said. "But every once in a while they burp, creating hydrothermal explosions, earthquakes, or—ultimately—they can produce volcanic eruptions."

Yellowstone Surge Also Linked to Geysers, Quakes?

Predicting when an eruption might occur is extremely difficult, in part because the fine details of what's going on under Yellowstone are still undetermined. What's more, continuous records of Yellowstone's activity have been made only since the 1970s—a tiny slice of geologic time—making it hard to draw conclusions.

"Clearly some deep source of magma feeds Yellowstone, and since Yellowstone has erupted in the recent geological past, we know that there is magma at shallower depths too," said Dan Dzurisin, a Yellowstone expert with the USGS Cascades Volcano Observatory in Washington State.

"There has to be magma in the crust, or we wouldn't have all the hydrothermal activity that we have," Dzurisin added. "There is so much heat coming out of Yellowstone right now that if it wasn't being reheated by magma, the whole system would have gone stone cold since the time of the last eruption 70,000 years ago."

The large hydrothermal system just below Yellowstone's surface, which produces many of the park's top tourist attractions, may also play a role in ground swelling, Dzurisin said, though no one is sure to what extent.

"Could it be that some uplift is caused not by new magma coming in but by the hydrothermal system sealing itself up and pressurizing?" he asked. "And then it subsides when it springs a leak and depressurizes? These details are difficult."

And it's not a matter of simply watching the ground rise and fall. Different areas may move in different directions and be interconnected in unknown ways, reflecting the as yet unmapped network of volcanic and hydrothermal plumbing.

The roughly 3,000 earthquakes in Yellowstone each year may offer even more clues about the relationship between ground uplift and the magma chamber.

For example, between December 26, 2008, and January 8, 2009, some 900 earthquakes occurred in the area around Yellowstone Lake.

This earthquake "swarm" may have helped to release pressure on the magma reservoir by allowing fluids to escape, and this may have slowed the rate of uplift, the University of Utah's Smith said. (Related: "Mysterious 'Swarm' of Quakes Strikes Oregon Waters.")

"Big quakes [can have] a relationship to uplift and deformations caused by the intrusion of magma," he said. "How those intrusions stress the adjacent faults, or how the faults might transmit stress to the magma system, is a really important new area of study."

Overall, USGS's Dzurisin added, "the story of Yellowstone deformation has gotten more complex as we've had better and better technologies to study it."

Sermon

Dear Friends,

In today’s Gospel we witness two miracles performed by Our Lord: the healing of a leper and the healing of the Centurion’s servant.

The leper first came and adored Jesus before he asked of Him any favors. This is a very important part of the lesson for today that is often overlooked. The first thing this man did was to acknowledge that Jesus is God. He says: “Lord, if Thou wilt, Thou canst make me clean.” Only God has that kind of power of Himself. He does not ask Jesus to intercede for him, petition for him, or to apply some remedy that will help him. It is clear that he recognizes Jesus as God who has the power to do all things. If we look closely we also see that there is not really any formal request for help. It is merely a statement or acknowledgement of Jesus’ power. He basically says: Jesus if you want to you can heal me of this disease. This is a profound act of faith.

It is also well for us to note that in not making a formal request he is in essence trusting completely in God. God knows what is in our best interest and so in our petitions we should acknowledge this as Jesus showed us in His prayer in the Garden of Olives “Lord if it is possible let this cup pass from Me; not My will but Thine be done.” We have no idea of what is for our own good and so we must always pray as Jesus did and as we see this leper pray – without any insistence upon our own will or desires, but with complete resignation to the will of God.

Jesus heard and acknowledged this request of the leper when He said: “I will,” followed by “Be thou made clean.” He shows us that what God wills is done. All that is necessary is for God to will it and it is done. So there would be no doubt, Jesus at the same time stretched forth His hand and touched the leper.
Jesus did what was forbidden – He touched a leper. This law was written to prevent the spread of the disease. With the touch of God things are not like the touch of men. Instead of sickness defiling the clean one who touched him, we see just the opposite taking place: the clean cleanses that which is defiled. To the clean all things are clean. Thus we see that Christ sets aside so many of the regulations of the Old Testament concerning clean and unclean. The other nations (Gentiles) are all made clean in Christ. We see that all foods are made clean and acceptable for us to eat in the New Testament. This seems to be something that many have lost sight of. All that God has made and given us is good. It is our evil use of the good things that is evil. We are not so much defiled by the things around us. The defilement comes from within us rather than from without us. It is not what enters the body that defiles a man rather it is the evil that comes forth from his own heart.
The innocent and humble see no evil where the corrupt and defiled find it openly manifested. The clean remain unsullied by the defilement around them because there is no evil in their hearts. So all that they take in is good – even the evil is transformed into a good for them. To the evil person though, all the evil around him amplifies the evil that is within him and the evil within him amplifies the evil around him. In this manner evil grows in the world and in our souls. The clean and innocent receive and give only that which is good and thus they increase the goodness around themselves and within themselves.
The Centurion makes a similar act of faith: “only say the word and my servant shall be healed.” All that is necessary is for Jesus to will it and it is done. This second miracle reinforces the lesson given in the first: Jesus does not petition in our behalf before God, nor does He apply some natural remedy; Jesus is God and therefore all that He must do is will it and it is done. When God speaks all of creation hears and obeys. All that is necessary is for Jesus to will something for it to be done.

There is one more very important virtue that we must not forget and that is seen in the words of this Centurion: “Lord, I am not worthy that Thou should enter under my roof.” The true and humble acknowledgement of our own unworthiness is most pleasing to God. In this acknowledgement of our unworthiness we resign ourselves again to whatever God chooses to will in our behalf. This humility causes one to meekly accept the cross if this is God’s will. It is so true that we are all sinners and therefore unworthy of God’s graces that the Church puts in our mouths at every Mass these same words and sentiments. In this truly humble state we hope as both the leper and the Centurion did for the relief of our sufferings.

Let us learn to first worship Jesus as God and then humbly present our needs to Him with perfect patience and resignation to His holy will, believing and trusting that all things work for the good of those who love God.

On a lighter note:

This applies to Wisconsin too - :)

This is an updated report with very gruesome pictures.  You can really appreciate the horror when you look at them!

Shocking Photos Of Gosnell Murder Victims Included in Grand Jury Report

Operation Rescue is releasing the photos to show the failure of regulatory agencies to protect the public; Calls for emergency inspections of all abortion clinics and massive reforms

Philadelphia, PA – District Attorney R. Seth Williams released a 281 page Grand Jury Report today that was the basis for murder charges against abortionist Kermit Gosnell and nine of his associates. Included in that report were photos of some of Gosnell’s victims.
We are posting copies of these images so that the full truth of the horrific nature of these crimes can be understood. In the report, the Grand Jury notes that several agencies and groups became aware of what has become known as Gosnell’s “shop of horrors” but did nothing.
Just the day after the death of Karnamaya Mongar, Gosnell had applied for membership to the National Abortion Federations, whose meager guidelines Gosnell could not meet. Even though an NAF staff person spent several days in Gosnell’s abortion mill noting numerous violations, they did not think to report him to the proper authorities.
The grand jury also had a stern rebuke for regulatory organizations who looked the other way, giving their stamp of approval on his criminal practices.
These people who saw the abuses yet stood idly by, or worse, encouraged the behavior that has now shocked the nation bear some responsibility for what happened in Philadelphia. In fact, they deserve criminal prosecution just as much as Gosnell and his cohorts because their silence not only enabled the crimes, but gave tacit consent to them.
Operation Rescue calls for massive reforms in the way abortionists and abortion clinics are handled by regulatory agencies nationwide. Kermit Gosnell’s shop of horrors is certainly not the only abortion mill of this kind in operation in America.
“Operation Rescue calls for immediate emergency inspections of every abortion clinic in the nation. We have often said that if this were to ever happen, no abortion clinic would remain in operation because we have yet to discover one that adheres to all the laws that apply to them. There is no doubt that proper enforcement of the laws already in place would save the lives of women like Mrs. Mongar and babies such as the ones whose tragic images we have posted on our web site,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman.
“As the 38th memorial of Roe v. Wade approaches, it is time for Americans to consider the horrors of abortion and demand that government abolish this barbaric practice forever.”
Note: Warning! Extremely graphic and disturbing. All photos are from the Grand Jury Report released by Philadelphia District Attorney R. Seth Williams. View the full report. More background.

EU Calendar Omits Christian Holidays, While Noting Jewish, Muslim Celebrations

She wrote that Christianity has "fallen into the limbo of collective ignorance.
The European Union, meanwhile, calls the omission of Christian holidays on a calendar distributed to millions of students an error.
The book was designed to act as an educational calendar for students, allowing them to write their homework and activities. At the bottom of each page, are printed inspirational quotes, information or comments for reflection.
While Christian holidays are missing, Sikh Baisakhi-Day, Yom Kippur, and the Muslim holiday Aid-el-Kebir remain listed.
"At the bottom of each page of this 'class journal' are small quotes or information devoted to various subjects and perhaps less known to European students. Some of them sometimes refer to cultural events, historical and religious...This approach led, without any deliberate intent, in the absence of references to events and important religious festivals that are very much a part of European heritage, particularly...Christmas and its importance in the Christian religion."
The EU says the Christian holidays will be put back on the calendar for future printings.

Sermon

Dear Friends,
These first martyrs of the Order of St. Francis hold a special place in the hearts of all Franciscans. St. Francis sent: Berard, Peter and Otto (priests) along with Adjutus and Accursius (lay brothers) to preach the Gospel to the Moslems in Morocco. Filled with the grace of God they went on their mission just as the Apostles did: without money or food.
Their faith and fearlessness in preaching Christ to the infidels earned them a glorious crown of martyrdom. “On the orders of the Moorish king, these heroes of Christ were beaten with rods until their entrails were uncovered. They were then rolled on pieces of glass and the tops of broken pots, and vinegar and boiling oil were poured on their gaping wounds. In the midst of all these horrible tortures, the martyrs sang praises to the Lord. When the king made treacherous proposals with the hope that they would change their faith, they made this courageous reply, ‘Do you think that the pleasures which you offer us can delude us? Keep these delights which will lead you to hell, in which even now your false prophet has been burning for a long time, for yourself and your kinsmen.’
“The Moslem King Miramolin, angered by these words, took his scimitar and cut off the heads of the courageous disciples of Christ with his own hand. After their death, the infidels dragged their bodies across the town and tore them to pieces. These first Franciscan martyrs were offered to God on January 16, 1220. When St. Francis learnt of the great triumph of his courageous children, he exclaimed, crying with joy, ‘I can say now that I have five real Friars Minor!’ Their bodies were brought back to Coimbra in Portugal; it was on this occasion that St. Anthony of Padua entered the Franciscan Order. Sixtus IV instituted the feast of these martyrs.”
In today’s Gospel Jesus warns those who would be His disciples. He tells us that He sends them as sheep in the midst of wolves. Truly the Franciscan Martyrs that we honor today went as sheep in the midst of wolves.
They were wise with the wisdom of faith and yet as simple as doves. They spoke the truth simply, honestly, and courageously. And they bravely accepted the consequences that were meted out to them for the faith that they bore in the name of Christ.
It was not necessary for them to prepare long and drawn out arguments against the infidels. For Christ has likewise promised them that “. . . it will be given you in that hour what to speak; for it is not you that speak, but the Spirit of your Father that speaketh in you.” It is truly the voice of God that spoke through these first Franciscan martyrs announcing to the king and all those with him who follow the false prophet that they are being led to hell where even now their false prophet has been burning for a long time.
All too often we worry and concern ourselves with what we must do or what we must say and gradually little by little we talk ourselves out of doing anything with the excuse that we don’t know what to say or do. We must be moved by faith. With a simple and honest faith and the intestinal fortitude of our convictions we should go forth bravely. We should not fear any worldly power. We should be filled with trust in God. It will be given us what to say in that hour.
With true love for God we believe and know that He is true and right and we should be ready to die for Him. Can we truly say that we believe if we are not ready to suffer for God?
Let us pray to these “five real Franciscans” and true soldiers of Christ that they may intercede for us so that we too will obtain this deep love for God and complete trust in Him. Let us not hesitate or cower in fear when it is a matter of defending Jesus, the Church and the true Faith. Let us not hesitate to denounce all those who oppose Jesus, the Church and the true Faith.
It is not with hatred or malice that we must do these things, but on the contrary with love for God and for the salvation of souls. Our martyrs that we honor today went to preach to the infidels filled with a love for God and a love for the infidel. It is true love that caused them to say and do what they did. They preached to them of Jesus because they wished for them to save their souls.
This great love and service for God was not without its fruit. We see a most precious and beautiful fruit in the inspiration given to St. Anthony of Padua. With this knowledge let us not fear that we are wasting our time, energy, or lives in serving and praising God. Even if we do not live to see the fruit of our sacrifices here on earth we will certainly see them in eternity.

Nasa warns solar flares from 'huge space storm' will cause devastation

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/space/7819201/Nasa-warns-solar-flares-from-huge-space-storm-will-cause-devastation.html

National power grids could overheat and air travel severely disrupted while electronic items, navigation devices and major satellites could stop working after the Sun reaches its maximum power in a few years.

Senior space agency scientists believe the Earth will be hit with unprecedented levels of magnetic energy from solar flares after the Sun wakes “from a deep slumber” sometime around 2013, The Daily Telegraph can disclose.

In a new warning, Nasa said the super storm would hit like “a bolt of lightning” and could cause catastrophic consequences for the world’s health, emergency services and national security unless precautions are taken.

Scientists believe it could damage everything from emergency services’ systems, hospital equipment, banking systems and air traffic control devices, through to “everyday” items such as home computers, iPods and Sat Navs.

Due to humans’ heavy reliance on electronic devices, which are sensitive to magnetic energy, the storm could leave a multi-billion pound damage bill and “potentially devastating” problems for governments.

“We know it is coming but we don’t know how bad it is going to be,” Dr Richard Fisher, the director of Nasa's Heliophysics division, said in an interview with The Daily Telegraph.

“It will disrupt communication devices such as satellites and car navigations, air travel, the banking system, our computers, everything that is electronic. It will cause major problems for the world.

“Large areas will be without electricity power and to repair that damage will be hard as that takes time.”

Dr Fisher added: “Systems will just not work. The flares change the magnetic field on the earth that is rapid and like a lightning bolt. That is the solar affect.”

A “space weather” conference in Washington DC last week, attended by Nasa scientists, policy-makers, researchers and government officials, was told of similar warnings.

While scientists have previously told of the dangers of the storm, Dr Fisher’s comments are the most comprehensive warnings from Nasa to date.

Dr Fisher, 69, said the storm, which will cause the Sun to reach temperatures of more than 10,000 F (5500C), occurred only a few times over a person’s life.

Every 22 years the Sun’s magnetic energy cycle peaks while the number of sun spots – or flares – hits a maximum level every 11 years.

Dr Fisher, a Nasa scientist for 20 years, said these two events would combine in 2013 to produce huge levels of radiation.

He said large swathes of the world could face being without power for several months, although he admitted that was unlikely.

A more likely scenario was that large areas, including northern Europe and Britain which have “fragile” power grids, would be without power and access to electronic devices for hours, possibly even days.

He said preparations were similar to those in a hurricane season, where authorities knew a problem was imminent but did not know how serious it would be.

“I think the issue is now that modern society is so dependant on electronics, mobile phones and satellites, much more so than the last time this occurred,” he said.

“There is a severe economic impact from this. We take it very seriously. The economic impact could be like a large, major hurricane or storm.”

The National Academy of Sciences warned two years ago that power grids, GPS navigation, air travel, financial services and emergency radio communications could “all be knocked out by intense solar activity”.

It warned a powerful solar storm could cause “twenty times more economic damage than Hurricane Katrina”. That storm devastated New Orleans in 2005 and left an estimated damage bill of more than $125bn (£85bn).

Dr Fisher said precautions could be taken including creating back up systems for hospitals and power grids and allow development on satellite “safe modes”.

“If you know that a hazard is coming … and you have time enough to prepare and take precautions, then you can avoid trouble,” he added.

His division, a department of the Science Mission Directorate at Nasa headquarters in Washington DC, which investigates the Sun’s influence on the earth, uses dozens of satellites to study the threat.

The government has said it was aware of the threat and “contingency plans were in place” to cope with the fall out from such a storm.

These included allowing for certain transformers at the edge of the National Grid to be temporarily switched off and to improve voltage levels throughout the network.

The National Risk Register, established in 2008 to identify different dangers to Britain, also has “comprehensive” plans on how to handle a complete outage of electricity supplies.
The late Pope John Paul II will be beatified this spring, the Vatican announced Friday after the current pontiff, Benedict XVI, certified that his predecessor had met the requirements.

The move puts the former pope a step closer to sainthood on what is already an unusually accelerated timetable that Benedict launched within weeks of John Paul's death almost six years ago.

The Vatican said Benedict had approved findings by the church that John Paul had performed a miracle after his death, a prerequisite for beatification. A nun who suffered from Parkinson's disease, as did the late pope, said she was healed of her affliction after praying to John Paul shortly after he died.

The beatification is to take place May 1, the first Sunday after Easter, the Vatican said.

The decision to elevate John Paul, who inspired millions worldwide with his tough stance against Communism and his resilience after a 1981 assassination attempt, is a spot of good news for the Roman Catholic Church, which has been battered by countless allegations of sexual abuse by priests, nuns and other religious workers.

Many of those acts of abuse were alleged to have occurred during John Paul's 27-year papacy. But much of the blame for the church's slow and largely defensive response to the complaints has now shifted to today's Vatican.

After John Paul's death on April 2, 2005, mourners and pilgrims at his funeral in St. Peter's Square waved signs calling for "sainthood right now," in a mark of their devotion. Weeks later, Benedict said he would immediately open the process leading to canonization, overriding rules that dictate a five-year wait after a person dies.

At the end of 2009, Benedict gave formal recognition of John Paul's "heroic virtues" and granted him the title of "venerable." After his beatification, the late pontiff will be known as "blessed."

For sainthood, a second confirmed miracle is required.

Reports surfaced last year that at least some church investigators were doubtful of claims by Sister Marie Simon-Pierre, a French nun, to have been cured of Parkinson's through John Paul's intercession.

But the panel overseeing such investigations concluded that the nun's recovery from the degenerative disease had no other explanation -- in other words, that it was a genuine miracle.

Although accelerated procedures toward sainthood are unusual, they are not without precedent. John Paul himself put Mother Teresa on the fast track to beatification after her death in 1997. She was beatified in 2003.

ONE WORD:

This morning I was surfing the internet and came upon this story about Mt. Etna erupting.  I was thinking that there was a religious story attached to it but couldn't find anything.  What I did find however was the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius and the story of Our Lady of Pompeii . All of this started me reminiscing about my childhood and my parents.

You may  be surprised to note that my father was baptized at Our Lady of Pompeii Church in Milwaukee in 1909. (It was called the little "pink church" because it was obviously painted pink.  It was later torn down for the freeway to come through,  evidently much to the distress of the Italian community.)   He also received his First Holy Communion there.

However, somewhere along the line, he lost his faith in his early teens and was never confirmed.  Later, he went on to meet my mother who married him anyway and went to Holy Mass for the first year of their marriage alone.  In her words, they had a very huge fight after that first year and she told him that she was leaving him if he didn't start attending Mass.  So that's where the title of this story comes from - I want you to think that his answer to that veiled threat determined my entire life.  Think for a moment if he would have said NO.  There would be no "me" and more importantly, there would be no Fr. Bonaventure.

Just as a little side note to the above story, my father went to church faithfully every Sunday/Holyday from then on.  I remember in 1963 on a Sunday, we had a terrible blizzard and couldn't even get the car out of the garage.  My father WALKED to church (about 10 blocks) just so he could keep his promise to her. I'm not really sure what his disposition was but at least he took his promise seriously!

When he was about 50 years old, he was confirmed which just proves that we should never give up praying for anyone.  I'm sure my mother was pouring her heart out to the Blessed Mother for him and she answered her in a most magnificent way!  Really - a MOST magnificent way with many, many eternal rewards attached to it!

NO…it is NOT “the Illuminati”…

http://poorrichards-blog.blogspot.com/2011/01/no-it-wasnt-illuminati.html

As brilliantly detailed in THIS ARTICLE there is, only a week plus on, no doubt as to who perpetrated the terrorist bombing of the al-Qiddissin Coptic Church in Alexandria, Egypt on new years.

NO, it wasn’t “the Illuminati” (although I’m sure I’ll never convince that crowd), it wasn’t “western capitalism”, it wasn’t “Wall Street Banksters” (although they are for sure connected to the culprits), it wasn’t “the military-industrial complex”, it wasn’t “the neo-cons” (although some of them are with the ones who did it), it wasn’t “the international corporations” (although their owners are part of the terrorist tribe), it wasn’t “the WTO”, it wasn’t “the IMF”, it wasn’t “the Federal Reserve”, it wasn’t “the CFR”, it wasn’t “the UN”, it wasn’t “the Chinese” (or North Koreans, or Iran…), it sure as hell wasn’t “the NAZIS”, it wasn’t “shape shifting reptilian aliens” (but like the Illuminati crowd fat chance on convincing the UFO chasers), it wasn’t “the British Royalty”, it wasn’t “the Vatican”, it wasn’t “BP” or ANY OTHER “bogey man” currently being feared and loathed by the “truth” community…NO IT WAS ISRAEL.

Now to be sure one thing all those bogey men mentioned above have in common is Jews (ok maybe not the aliens…maybe). Every single one of those faceless bogey men were either founded by, owned by, financed by, organized by or other wise controlled and created for the benefit of ONE ENTITY…JEWS (yes even the aliens…Spielberg made a fortune with ET didn’t he?). Sure they’ve had their gentile boot licker’s and front men like George Bush or Dick Cheney or Joe Biden or Angela Merkel but ALL of these cut outs universally dance to the Jewish fiddle. Truth is as far as politics goes, especially on the international scale, it’s been a Jewish World for a long long time. Henry Ford wrote about it in detail in 1919 as others have throughout the last five centuries (or two millennium).

NO, it wasn’t UFO’s that attacked the USS Liberty in 1967 during the Jewish war with the “Arabs”…it was ISRAEL.

NO, it wasn’t members of “the Black Nobility” (or “Illuminati” or “Skull and Bones”) who are now cheered as heroes in the criminal state of ISRAEL for their participation in, the distant twin of the Coptic Church bombing, The Lavon Affair…it WAS Mossad (i.e. the terrorist state of ISRAEL).

NO, it wasn’t a crack team of CFR paper pushers (or UN paper pushers, or WTO paper pushers or EU or Coca Cola/Monsanto corporate cogs) that placed explosives in the World Trade Center buildings brought down on 9-11…it WAS the Mossad agents rounded up driving “moving vans” of various configurations (and explosive properties) and filming ALL “of the events” of 9-11 from the most opportune locations and who access to and the training to use the nano-thermite explosive used to demolish three buildings and almost 3,000 people on 9-11…no it was ISRAEL.

For all of you out there chasing Jewish media created ghosts like the Freemasons (who DID do some seriously evil stuff…in the 1800′s/ early 1900′s) or the “Illuminati” (which even by its own “official story” is an obvious front for Jewish mercantile and banking power consolidation in 18th century Europe) or the dreaded and universally feared long extinct NAZIS (or the mythical “Al-Qaida”)…

YOUR TARGET (of fear and loathing) IS ISRAEL. If you insist on looking for evil “dark lords” who fancy themselves superior to all with mythical powers granted by the gods…they call themselves JEWS (although Jesus called them children of Satan…sounds about right).

And as for you schmucks out there still pushing the idea of the ever incompetent cluster fuck of a bureaucracy known as the CIA (born in 1948…just like ISRAEL and MOSSAD…hmmm) being anything other then an unwitting tool of Jewish Power and ESPECIALLY you “ex” spooks chirping about “global Arab terrorist networks” and “Arab hijackers” and “Muslim extremists” (with or without “sharia law”)..STFU and either do some honest research and further reading or declare your true loyalty to ISRAEL (just start making your appearances in your new knee pads). Or you can just keep talking because then it makes it really easy to identify you as a (witting or unwitting) Zionist agent.

Once again…it isn’t a lie when the media tells you “there’s a group of religious extremists based in the middle east who use terrorism and other methods in a global plot to take over the world”…they just always forget to tell you it’s their bosses who own the TV network and make their terrorist middle east headquarters in Tel Aviv.

NO…it is NOT “the Illuminati”…it IS the ZIONISTS people.

The REAL RACISTS of the world:

'Gentile sperm leads to barbaric offspring'

http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4006385,00.html

Rabbi Dov Lior says Jewish Law prohibits sterile couples from conceiving using non-Jew's sperm, as it causes adverse traits. On subject of single mothers he says, 'Child cannot be 100% normal'

Kobi Nahshoni

Rabbi Dov Lior, a senior authority on Jewish law in the Religious Zionism movement, asserted recently that a Jewish woman should never get pregnant using sperm donated by a non-Jewish man – even if it is the last option available.

According to Lior, a baby born through such an insemination will have the "negative genetic traits that characterize non-Jews." Instead, he advised sterile couples to adopt.

Lior addressed the issue during a women's health conference held recently at the Puah Institute, a fertility clinic. His conservative stance negated a ruling widely accepted by rabbis, which states that sperm donated by a non-Jew is preferable to that of an anonymous Jew, who might pose a genealogical risk.

"Sefer HaChinuch (a book of Jewish law) states that the character traits of the father pass on to the son," he said in the lecture. "If the father in not Jewish, what character traits could he have? Traits of cruelty, of barbarism! These are not traits that characterize the people of Israel."

Lior added identified Jews as merciful, shy and charitable – qualities that he claimed could be inherited. "A person born to Jewish parents, even if they weren't raised on the Torah – there are things that are passed on (to him) in the blood, it's genetic," he explained. "If the father is a gentile, then the child is deprived of these things....  (yea - tell that to the Palestinians)
Pope Leo XII: “It is impossible for the most true God, who is Truth itself, the best, the wisest Provider, and the Rewarder of good men, to approve all sects who profess false teachings which are often inconsistent with one another and contradictory, and to confer eternal rewards on their members…"

Sometimes finding the truth is so simple - we just overlook it - :)
OK, I couldn't resist

Marquette University - a novus ordo "catholic" college has just hired former Senator Russ Feingold as a visiting law professor.

http://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2011/01/05/russ-feingold-to-become-law-prof/

Feingold is as pro-abotion and pro-contraception as one can get!

Here is a list of his votes on abortion:

http://www.ontheissues.org/social/Russell_Feingold_Abortion.htm

He also is a supporter of same-sex marriage:

 frpm wikipedia:

On April 4, 2006, Feingold told constituents at a listening session in Kenosha, Wisconsin, that he supported the legalization of same-sex marriage. Though Feingold had once voted against passage of the Defense of Marriage Act, this was the first time that he publicly announced his support for marriage rights for same-sex couples. Feingold's comments were in response to a question about whether he supported a ballot initiative that Wisconsinites voted on in November 2006 that incorporated a ban on same-sex marriage and all civil unions (same-sex or not) into the state constitution.[42] He joined then-Republican Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island and Democrats Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts, Ron Wyden of Oregon, and Mark Dayton of Minnesota as one of only five senators to publicly announce their support for same-sex marriage.

“ Gay and lesbian couples should be able to marry and have access to the same rights, privileges and benefits that straight couples currently enjoy. . . [In a later interview:] The proposed ban on civil unions and marriage is a mean-spirited attempt to divide Wisconsin and I indicated that it should be defeated[43] ”

On May 18, 2006, Feingold again made news with his stance on marriage when he walked out of a meeting of the Senate Judiciary Committee shortly before a vote on a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage. After Feingold objected to both the amendment and decision of Chairman Arlen Specter (R-PA at the time) to move the meeting to an area of the Capitol Building not open to the public, Specter told Feingold, "I don't need to be lectured by you. You are no more a protector of the Constitution than am I. If you want to leave, good riddance." Feingold then replied, "I've enjoyed your lecture, too, Mr. Chairman. See ya." He then left the room and did not return. Later that day, the committee voted to send the amendment to the full Senate.[44]

On July 29, 2006, Feingold was the keynote speaker at the Human Rights Campaign's annual gala at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California.[45]

Ask yourself if a truly Catholic university would hire such a person to teach, not to mention that he is not even Catholic, but is a Jew!
Lean Latin for free online at your own pace.

I just came upon this site and so far it is incredible.  I have always wanted to learn Latin - or at least get a better understanding of it - and this site is incredible for this.

He teaches the classical pronounciation - so it is a little different from Ecclesiastical - but I think it would still be great to learn.

HERE ARE SOME QUOTES FROM BENEDICT XVI NEW BOOK THAT PROVE BEYOND A SHADOW OF A DOUBT THAT HE IS A HERETIC AND COULD NEVER BE POPE:

Benedict XVI, Light of the World, 2010, p. 89: “… what I defended was the heritage of the Second Vatican Council and of the entire history of the Church. The passage [from Dominus Iesus] means that the Eastern Churches [i.e., the “Orthodox”] are genuine particular churches, although they are not in communion with the Pope. In this sense, unity with the Pope is not constitutive for the particular church.”

Benedict XVI, Light of the World, 2010, p. 98: “During my visit to Turkey, I was able to show that I respect Islam, that I acknowledge it as a great religious reality with which we must be in dialogue.”

Benedict XVI, Light of the World, 2010, p. 39: “When a priest lives together with a woman, one must examine whether they could build a good marriage. If that is the case, they must follow that path.”

Benedict XVI, Light of the World, 2010, p. 121: “Q. Would you have signed the decree lifting the excommunication [of the SSPX bishops] if you had known that among the four bishops there was a person who denied the existence of the gas chambers?
 A. No. If I had known, the first step would have been to separate the Williamson case from the others. Unfortunately, though, none of us went on the Internet to find out what sort of person we were dealing with.”

Benedict XVI, Light of the World, 2010, p. 124: “Q. Nevertheless, the General Secretary of the Central Council of Jews in Germany went so far as to claim that the Pope wanted to introduce a Holocaust-denier into polite society… Doesn’t all of this suggest that, in light of the Williamson affair, the relation to the Jews is still in flux?
 A. One thing that is evident, at any rate, is that there are still great fears and tensions and that the dialogue can easily be damaged and is fragile. In the worldwide Jewish community as a whole, however, there were many people who immediately vouched for me and said that I would never introduce a Holocaust-denier into polite society. These people know me. In that sense, a breakdown of the dialogue was out of the question.”

Benedict XVI, Light of the World, 2010, p. 158: “I am not opposed in principle to communion in the hand; I have both administered and received communion in this way.”

Benedict XVI, Light of the World, 2010, p. 81: “… Q. Your very first official act as Successor of Peter was a letter to the Jewish community of Rome. Was this symbolic gesture meant to convey a basic thrust of the pontificate?
 A. Absolutely. I must say that from the very first day I began to study theology, the intrinsic unity of the Old and New Covenants, of the two parts of Holy Scripture, was somehow immediately clear to me... Then as Germans we were of course shaken by what happened in the Third Reich, which gave us a special reason to look with humility and shame, and with love, upon the People of Israel. As I have just said, it was already during my theological studies that these things came together and began to shape the course of my thinking as a theologian. For this reason it was clear to me – here, too, in the full continuity with Pope John Paul II – that this new, loving, sympathetic interrelation of Israel and the Church, where each respects the being and distinctive mission of the other, had to play an essential part in my proclamation of the Christian faith.”

Benedict XVI, Light of the World, 2010, p. 65: “Above all, the Council took up and carried out its great mission of defining in a new way the Church’s purpose as well as her relation to the modern era, and also the relation of faith to this time with its values.”

I like Star Trek as much as the next guy - but come on - I know it is just a goofy TV show, I guess I have one up on these "scientists".
Earth must prepare for close encounter with aliens, say scientists

http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2011/jan/10/earth-close-encounter-aliens-extraterrestrials

World governments should prepare a co-ordinated action plan in case Earth is contacted by aliens, according to scientists.

Scientists argue that a branch of the UN must be given responsibility for "supra-Earth affairs" and formulate a plan for how to deal with extraterrestrials, should they appear.

The comments are part of an extraterrestrial-themed edition of the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society A published today. In it, scientists examine all aspects of the search for extraterrestrial life, from astronomy and biology to the political and religious fallout that would result from alien contact.

"Will a suitable process based on expert advice from proper and responsible scientists arise at all, or will interests of power and opportunism more probably set the scene?" asked Professor John Zarnecki of the Open University and Dr Martin Dominik of the University of St Andrews in the introductory paper. "A lack of co-ordination can be avoided by creating an overarching framework in a truly global effort governed by an international politically legitimated body." The pair argue that the UN has a ready-made mechanism for such a forum in its Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (Copuos).

Member states of Copuos should put "supra-Earth affairs" on their agenda, say the scientists, and establish structures similar to those proposed for dealing with threats from near-Earth objects, such as asteroids, that might be on a collision course with our planet.

According to Simon Conway Morris, a professor of evolutionary palaeobiology at Cambridge University, anyone planning for alien contact should prepare for the worst.

Evolution on alien worlds, he said, is likely to be Darwinian in nature. Morris argues that life anywhere else in the universe will therefore probably have important similarities with life on Earth – especially if it comes from Earth-like worlds that have similar biological molecules to ours. That means ET might resemble us, warts and all, with our tendencies towards violence and exploitation.

"Why should we 'prepare for the worst'? First, if intelligent aliens exist, they will look just like us, and given our far from glorious history, this should give us pause for thought," wrote Morris in the journal's special issue.

Ted Peters, a professor of systematic theology at the Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in California, considered what might happen to the world's religions in the event of ET making contact. Conventional wisdom suggests that terrestrial religion would collapse if the existence of extraterrestrial intelligence (ETI) were confirmed, he wrote.

"Because our religious traditions formulated their key beliefs within an ancient world view now out of date, would shocking new knowledge dislodge our pre-modern dogmas? Are religious believers Earth-centric, so that contact with ET would de-centre and marginalise our sense of self-importance? Do our traditional religions rank us human beings on top of life's hierarchy, so if we meet ETI who are smarter than us will we lose our superior rank? If we are created in God's image, as the biblical traditions teach, will we have to share that divine image with our new neighbours?"

His conclusion, however, is that faith in Earth's major religions would survive intact. "Theologians will not find themselves out of a job. In fact, theologians might relish the new challenges to reformulate classical religious commitments in light of the new and wider vision of God's creation."

"Traditional theologians must then become astrotheologians ... What I forecast is this: contact with extraterrestrial intelligence will expand the existing religious vision that all of creation – including the 13.7bn-year history of the universe replete with all of God's creatures – is the gift of a loving and gracious God," he speculated.

Is Loughner’s mother Jewish?

By Ron Kampeas · January 10, 2011

There's a lot of buzz about the parents of Jared Lee Loughner, the alleged shooter in the attack Saturday that critically wounded Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) and killed six people in an attack in Tucson.

More precisely, there's a lot of buzz about who these parents are -- we've heard about Loughner's allegedly untoward behavior at a community college, what high school acquaintances have said -- but the New York Times, for instance, shunts until the very end of its profile today what it knows about Randy and Amy Loughner: Randy Loughner was an unpleasant neighbor.

There's not much more, beyond their silence.

Now we get this from Mother Jones. Nick Baumann interviews Bryce Tierney a friend of Jared's who recalls the alleged shooter's first encounter with Giffords, in 2007 -- and then explains why Jared might have listed Mein Kampf as a "favorite book":

Tierney believes that Loughner was very interested in pushing people's buttons—and that may have been why he listed Hitler's Mein Kampf as one of his favorite books on his YouTube page. (Loughner's mom is Jewish, according to Tierney.)
Texas school police ticketing students as young as 6

By Liz Goodwin liz Goodwin

http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_thelookout/20110110/us_yblog_thelookout/students-as-young-as-six-ticketed-by-police-in-texas-schools/print

School police officers in Texas are doling out more tickets to children as young as 6, who under past disciplinary practices would have been sent to the principal's office instead, according to a report by a Texas nonprofit.

"Disrupting class, using profanity, misbehaving on a school bus, student fights, and truancy once meant a trip to the principal's office. Today, such misbehavior results in a Class C misdemeanor ticket and a trip to court for thousands of Texas students and their families each year," says the Appleseed Texas report (PDF). It examined data from 22 of the state's largest school districts and eight municipal courts.

Over six years, school police issued 1,000 tickets to elementary school children in 10 school districts.

The study found that where a child attends school -- not the severity of the allegation -- was the best indicator of whether the child would be ticketed instead of sent to the principal's office. Black students and special education students were overrepresented among those ticketed.

Most Texas schools have police officers, and that staffing is on the rise. The most common infractions earning misdemeanor tickets: disorderly conduct and leaving school without permission.

Appleseed recommends that Texas ban ticketing for children under 14.

Here's a graph from the report showing how increased police presence resulted in increased ticketing over time in five districts:

 PEACE 2011
http://franciscanfathers.com/peace_2011.html

The angels proclaimed “Peace on earth to men of good will” And with the dawn of this new year Joseph Ratzinger “Pope Benedict XVI” announced that he planned to invite religious leaders from the world’s major faiths to gather in Assisi in order to “solemnly renew the commitment by believers of every religion to live their religious faith as a service to the cause of peace.” He further stated: “Whoever is making his way toward God cannot fail to transmit peace, and whoever builds peace cannot fail to draw nearer to God.” The title for his theme for “World Peace Day 2011” was: “Religious Freedom, the Path to Peace.”

What is this peace that the angels proclaimed and what is the “peace” proclaimed by Joseph Ratzinger? Are they the same or are they different?

The Angels announced a peace that was restored between God and man. It was not a peace among men as such but was a higher peace of reconciliation between men of good will and God. The entire sentence from the angels as taken from St. Luke (2, 14) is: “Glory to God in the highest: and on earth, peace to men of good will.” “By this the angels wished to show that the peace which Christ came to bring into the world, was the internal peace for our souls, of which the external peace that subsisted under Augustus, was a figure.” (Nic. De Lyra.) “Peace is made on earth, since human nature, before an enemy to god, is now reconciled and united to Him by His Incarnation.” (Theophy.)

It seems rather clear from this that first we must be of good will towards God. After all we have been taught that the first and the greatest commandment is to love God with all our being with the most preferential love we can have. The love of our neighbor comes second in that we must love him as we love ourselves. Therefore the Angels sing “Glory to God in the highest,” and invite us to join with them in glorifying God. In this manner God will be glorified on earth as He is in Heaven. And all those who are of this good will receive the peace of God. Once these men of good will are at peace with God then they will find that they are then at peace with themselves and then with their neighbor.

We also learn from this that there is no true peace without God. There is no true peace among men without Christ. The only peace is between God and men of good will. And then secondarily there happens to be a peace that men of good will find with themselves and each other. We find that Christ came not to bring peace on earth (for this is reserved for eternity) but, “I came not to send peace, but the sword.” (Matthew X, 34). God does not desire us to be at constant war with one another, but He sees this as a necessary consequence of His coming. Before Christ came man could be at peace with one another in the absence of The Truth. But since Christ has come and given us The Truth in His doctrines (teachings) men are divided against each other. They are separated into those that love God and those who hate and persecute those that love God. Son has risen against father, and daughter against mother etc.

Christ’s coming to this earth has not brought peace but division. Men are now separated into two camps: those that believe and are baptized (and are saved) and those who do not believe, are not baptized (and are damned). There is no longer any room for indifference in the matter. “He that is not with me, is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth.” (Matthew XII, 30).

God does not directly desire this conflict and division, His desire is that all should follow Him. It is clear enough that because men have free wills that many will not be of good will and follow Him. God takes their evil and makes good come from it. This becomes a means to better purify and sanctify those who will follow Him. This enables those of good will to choose Christ over mother, father, husband, wife, son, daughter etc. (see Matthew X, 37)

It is now a division of the world against God. And unless we renounce the world, deny ourselves and take up the cross of Christ we will be lost.

To search for or promote any other peace without Christ or against Christ or indifferent to Christ is doomed to failure. Yet, this is exactly what we saw Karl Woytila – “Pope John Paul II” promoted during his reign; especially at the “Wold Day of Prayer for Peace in Assisi” in 1986. And now Joseph Ratzinger – “Pope Benedict XVI” wishes to recall and reinforce this same demonic illusion upon the world of 2011.

What kind of peace can there be between God and Mammon? What kind of peace can there be between the servants of God and the servants of Mammon? Can the worshipers of Christ be at peace with the worshipers of Satan? Can the followers of Christ be at peace with the followers of Anti-Christ?

The peace that these Modernists are promoting is one of indifference, or perhaps more honestly stated it is a peace with this world and the devils to the exclusion of Christ. It is the “peace” that reigns in Hell. We recall to mind some of the horrifying stories of what took place in Assisi in 1986 and we shudder at the thought of what will happen in 2011. One of the most glaring disgraces was the placing of a statue of a pagan god on the top of a tabernacle where God was once adored in the Blessed Sacrament. A pagan idol god was placed above Christ. And this is supposed to bring peace to the earth?! And this is promoted by men who present themselves as the head of Christ’s Church?

“Whoever is making his way toward God cannot fail to transmit peace and whoever builds peace cannot fail to draw nearer to God.” What clever deceit. Whoever is making his way to God is forging peace between his own soul and God and is simultaneously raging a war against his disordered passions, the fallen world, and the devils. This puts him at odds with the apparent peace that the Modernists are promoting. The second half seems to be better rendered: whoever builds this false peace cannot fail to draw nearer to Satan.

Ratzinger desires to: “solemnly renew the commitment by believers of every religion to live their religious faith as a service to the cause of peace.” Not for God or Christ, but for a false peace that cannot be. The worshipers of Satan can never be at peace with the worshipers of Christ. Those who would attempt to find peace in this indifference and denial of the Truth (Christ) cannot be said to be Christians, much less Catholics. Surely they cannot wish for us all to believe that these promoters of this evil are the vicars of Jesus Christ; but that is exactly what they want us to believe and, sadly most of the world is listening to them rather than to Christ and His true Church.
