Lourdes Grotto at Notre Dame catches fire

.- The University of Notre Dame released a statement on July 26 saying that the campus's Grotto of our Lady of Lourdes caught fire on Monday evening.

The university's fire department quickly extinguished the flames when they broke out early in the evening, Notre Dame spokesman Dennis Brown told the South Bend Tribune. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is still under investigation, Brown said.

Notre Dame's July 26 statement added that the “interior of the Grotto has been closed while officials determine if it is safe to enter. Visitors may still pray at the perimeter of the shrine.”

Candles are often lit in the grotto by those visiting to pray and have posed a hazard in the past with the grotto catching fire in 1985 due to the large number of lit votive candles.

Built in 1896, the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes is one-seventh the size of the shrine in France where the Blessed Mother appeared to St. Bernadette numerous times in 1858.

This story bothers me a lot since we have several college or college bound students in this household. Can they really withhold a diploma if you don't pretend to believe as they do?

Another Counseling Student Harrassed for Christian Beliefs Appeals Court Ruling

ADF to appeal ruling that allows Eastern Michigan U. to expel students for not affirming homosexuality

DETROIT, Michigan, July 28, 2010 ( — Attorneys will appeal a federal court decision issued Monday in a lawsuit filed on behalf of student Julea Ward against Eastern Michigan University (EMU) after it kicked out the Christian student for holding to her beliefs on homosexual conduct.

EMU dismissed Ward from its graduate counseling program in March 2009 for not affirming homosexual behavior as morally acceptable. Ward would not agree to change her religious beliefs about homosexual behavior or express a message contrary to them during counseling sessions as a condition to receiving a degree.

“Christian students shouldn’t be expelled for holding to and abiding by their beliefs,” said Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) Senior Counsel David French, who argued before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan last month. “To reach its decision, the court had to do something that’s never been done in federal court: uphold an extremely broad and vague university speech code.”

EMU initiated its disciplinary process against Ward shortly after she enrolled in a counseling practicum course in January 2009, when she was assigned a potential client seeking assistance regarding a homosexual relationship. Recognizing the potential conscience issue with the client, and knowing she could not affirm the client’s homosexual relationship without violating her religious beliefs, Ward asked her supervisor how to handle the matter.

Ward was advised to reassign the potential client to a different counselor. EMU then informed Ward that she could only stay in the counseling program if she agreed to undergo a “remediation” program. Its purpose was to help her “see the error of her ways” and change her “belief system” as it relates to counseling about homosexual relationships.

At a subsequent formal review meeting, lawyers say EMU faculty denigrated Ward’s Christian views and asked several inappropriate and intrusive questions about her religious beliefs. A faculty committee then dismissed her from the counseling program. Ward appealed, but the dean of EMU College of Education upheld the dismissal.

“Julea merely followed her supervising professor’s advice by referring a potential client to a counselor who had no conscience issue with the particular matter to be discussed,” said French. “She would have gladly counseled the client herself had the topic focused on any other matter. We trust the 6th Circuit will understand the constitutional issues involved in this case.”

The EMU speech codes enabling the university’s actions were challenged as part of the ADF lawsuit, Ward v. Wilbanks. One policy prohibiting “discrimination based on … sexual orientation” adds that counselors cannot “condone” what the university defines as discrimination. Another problematic policy states that EMU’s counseling department may discipline a student who shows a “failure to tolerate different points of view.”

ADF is currently litigating a similar case involving a counseling student at Augusta State University in Georgia. Student Jennifer Keeton sued the university after she says she was forced to undergo comprehensive "diversity sensitivity training" and forbidden from expressing her religious beliefs, or else be kicked out of the counseling program.

The Georgia State University story is particularly galling since they are forcing her to attend a "gay pride parade" and report on it! If you've ever seen pictures from these events, you know that it could seriously harm your conscience!

Here is a beautiful story of a Eucharistic Miracle:

It was in a small town called Santarem about 35 miles south of the shrine. St Stephen's Catholic Church, now known as The Church of the Holy Miracle, is a building nestled amongst a cluster of simple, brick and stone homes.

Little has changed over the centuries on the narrow cobblestone streets with children playing and traffic moving slowly along reflecting a calm pace of life.

However, it was precisely here where in 1247 a horrible sacrilege took place that produced the miracle of the Holy Host.

There lived at that time a Catholic woman suffering from the abuse and infidelity of her husband and was convinced that her husband no longer loved her. After many prayers and no relief from her problems, she turned to a sorceress for help.

Upon explaining her problems, she was told to bring a consecrated host with the promise that her husband would soon return to his loving ways. The woman was aware of the grave offense to God, and was frightened with the prospect of committing a horrible sacrilege. Unfortunately, she gave in to temptation and went to Mass at Saint Stephen's and received Holy Communion, removed the host from her mouth and put it into her veil.

As she headed for the sorceress' cave, the first miracle occurred. Within moments, blood began to issue from the host. The amount of blood was such that it soon dripped from the cloth and attracted the attention of bystanders who asked if she needed assistance. Becoming even more frightened by the unexpected turn of events, she hurried home instead of the sorcerer's cave, and put the veil with the host in a wooden chest in the bedroom.

The second miracle took place that very night when both she and her husband were awakened by a mysterious light penetrating through the wooden chest. The woman then confessed her sin to her husband and they both spent the remainder of the night on their knees in adoration. The following morning, the parish priest was informed and people rushed to the house to contemplate the Holy Miracle. The priest brought the host back to the church in solemn procession, placed it in a small case of wax; and deposited it in the tabernacle.

A third miracle occurred later when the priest opened the tabernacle door and found the wax container had broken into small pieces. In its place was a beautiful crystal pyx with the blood of the host inside. The pyx is approximately 1/2" thick and 2" in diameter, crystalline clear and with a small protrusion on the side that contains the largest collection of blood. It is irregularly shaped crystal through which can be seen the real flesh with delicate veins running from top to bottom and a quantity of blood which is collected at one end.

It was later placed in a gold and silver pear-shaped monstrance with a sunburst of 33 rays where it remains today. The reliquary that houses the miraculous Host rests above the tabernacle, and can be viewed atop a set of stairs from behind the main altar.

The woman's house was converted into a chapel in 1684.

The small house where the miracle occurred is three blocks from the church. On the second Sunday of every April, this incident is re-enacted by local actors. The actual Holy Host is taken in solemn procession from the woman's house, which was converted into a chapel in 1684, to the church.

This case, along with many other Eucharistic miracles, gives witness to the real presence of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Eucharist.

For those who do not believe, no explanation is possible. For those who believe, no explanation is necessary. During the Age of Faith, even those who committed such sacrileges believed in the Real Presence. Building upon that faith, God called them to repentance and often rewarded them with impressive miracles.

It just keeps getting worse...from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel death notices:

Gute, Daniel Browne M.D. Gute, Katherine Tobin Husband and wife of fifty-three years, chose to leave this world with dignity on Sunday, July 18, 2010. Dan and Kitty were residents of River Hills, Wisconsin and Tucson, Arizona. Dan, known as Danny to his friends, was born August 4, 1930, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Dr. Edwin and Florence Gute. He was predeceased by his sisters, Mary Suzanne Gute, at age 12, and Sally Gute Clarke, at age 81. Dan graduated from Milwaukee Country Day School, Northwestern University and Northwestern University Medical School and served as a Flight Surgeon in the United States Navy and Air Force. Dan was a well respected urological surgeon and was well admired during his tenures at Columbia Hospital, St. Alphonsus Hospital (Port Washington) and St. Joseph's (West Bend) and with his private practice, Urologic Service Corporation. Dan received a Traveling Fellowship Award from the American Urological Association and served as a Clinical Professor of Urology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dan also served as President of the Town of Saukville, Wisconsin and was proud of his successes there in limiting the expansion of limestone quarrying in the township. He was an avid sailor who turned to golf later in life in his native Wisconsin and his adopted Sonoran Desert. Kitty Gute was born on March 4, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois, to Howard and Mary Tobin. Kitty was a graduate of Downer Seminary and Smith College. Kitty was a dedicated member of the board of directors of numerous organizations, including the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Foundation, the Green Tree Garden Club, The Nature Conservancy and Riveredge Nature Center. Kitty was a Teacher Naturalist and sought fiercely to improve our natural environment. She loved the land that she and Dan owned in Kiel, Wisconsin and later in Fredonia, Wisconsin, and, with Dan, loved her time in Great Exuma, Bahamas. Kitty was a spirited competitor and an accomplished athlete, well respected on the tennis courts, until her knees failed her, and on the golf course, where she was twice Milwaukee Country Club Women's Golf Champion. Although Kitty suffered from dementia and Alzheimer's in her last year, she grew sweeter each week. Dan and Kitty were proud parents of Mary Gute Witte (Bayside, Wisconsin), Susan Gute Rogers (Minneapolis, Minnesota) and Shenzhen, China) and Constance Gute Walsh (Wellesley, Massachusetts), and exceptional parents-in-law to Edward (Ned) Witte, Mark Rogers and Jeffrey Walsh. Opah and Mashie were even prouder grandparents of their 10 grandchildren, Daniel Witte, Toby Witte, Nick Witte, Sandy Witte, Sammy Rogers, Charlie Rogers, Joey Rogers, Katie Walsh, Abi Walsh and Callie Walsh. All of Dan and Kitty's daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren survive them. Dan and Kitty are also survived by Dan's sister Sally's daughters, Nancy Crawford and Mary Clarke. Deep gratitude to Dan and Kitty's physician and friend, Dr. Bruce Wilson, for his consistent care, support and love. Dan and Kitty would have hoped their loving act could open a dialogue on the right of all, particularly the elderly and those who are afflicted with terminal illnesses, to decide for themselves when to end their lives. A gathering and celebration of Dan and Kitty's lives will be held at Milwaukee Country Club on Saturday, August 7, 2010, from four to seven o'clock. The daughters request memorials to University School of Milwaukee, 2100 West Fairy Chasm Road, Milwaukee, WI 53217, Riveredge Nature Center, 4458 West Hawthorne Drive, Newburg, WI 53060 or the or the Alzheimer's Association , 620 South 76th Street, Suite 160, Milwaukee, WI 53214.

Sounds to me like Dan murdered his wife Kitty - please tell me - how can a person who has dementia and Alzheimer's disease for the last year make a decission to end her life?
How sad, these people think that they can shake their fist at God and do whatever they want!
They take all the good that God has given them (which they arrogantly and proudly boast about in this obituary), yet refuse to accept the cross that God sends them to lead them to Heaven.
This is why Hell exists!
God help me to never be so deceived and foolish!

Here is a link to the news story about this:

Wisconsin doctor, Alzheimer's-stricken wife commit suicide

A few days before he committed suicide with his wife of 53 years, Daniel Gute, a retired physician, wrote a note explaining their mutual decision to die.

The two-page handwritten letter is dated July 16, and it is signed by both Gute and his wife, Katherine, whom he calls "Kitty." Kitty Gute had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease more than a year before.

The note describes Kitty Gute's failing health, daily indignities and chronic pain. It touches on their determination not to allow the vibrant life they had shared come to an end in a nursing home, where they feared their deaths would be no better than dragged out and wrested from their control.

"I am hoping that sometime this weekend I will have the guts to act to deliver us both from a more dismal situation," he writes.

"I have been thinking about this for a long time. It will not be easy. However, as time goes by it will not get any better."

One of their three daughters, Mary Witte, found Daniel and Kitty Gute's bodies Sunday.

The two were inclined toward each other in the front seat of Kitty Gute's car, which was parked in the garage of their River Hills home. They had asphyxiated themselves with helium, an inert gas they pumped into plastic bags that covered their heads...

Oh how dignified!

People are so duped by Satan and their foolish pride!

Something to show your Zionist "Christian" acquaintances that support Israel and believe that those who claim to be Jews today are "God's Chosen" people:

Top settler rabbi arrested for allegedly inciting to kill non-Jews

Rabbi Yitzhak Shapira is the alleged author of a book which deems as legal, according to 'Jewish law,' the killing of non-Jews.

By Chaim Levinson

The head rabbi of a prominent yeshiva in the West Bank settlement of Yitzhar was arrested Monday for writing a book that allegedly encourages the killing of non-Jews.Rabbi Yitzhak Shapira is the alleged author of the book "The King's Torah," which deems as legal, according to "Jewish law," the killing of non-Jews.

Police began investigating Shapira after an advertisement for the book in a Hebrew newspaper created a public uproar.

Deputy Attorney General Shai Nitzan encouraged the investigation as he believed the book contained an incitement to violence.

On Monday morning, police detectives arrived at the settlement of Yitzhar, arrested Shapira and confiscated 30 copies of his book.

Shapira is head of a yeshiva (a type of center for Jewish study) which supports replacing the government with a religious monarchy.

Shapira was arrested this past January for his alleged involvement in the torching of a Palestinian mosque in the village of Yasuf, but was later released.

I am completely convinced that the only reason this satanist was arrested was because he made public what Jews believe and what their Talmud teaches. You see - if "Christians" got wind of this and actually used the brain that God gave them - they might stop supporting this satanic nation and its Christ hating/denying people!

The love and gifts of children teach us so much. I look at so many pictures and colorings given to me by children and am deeply touched - not so much by the artistry (though some are very good) - but, by the love that is expressed in their works and gifts. It is their love that makes each and every gift no matter how small or monetarily insignificant more precious than gold. It is humbling to realize how freely and naturally little children love and how adults must struggle and strain to love God. If adults could only put forth the love that children have into their gifts, offerings, and sacrifices for God.It becomes clearer as time goes by how our offerings to God can be pleasing to Him. Nothing that we have or can offer are worth anything to God in themselves because He is and has everything; He is infinitely perfect and all that we can offer is imperfection. Just as the gifts of little children are seemingly insignificant they are made more precious than ever by the love that prompts them, so it is with God. It is the love that we have for God that prompts our offerings of gifts and sacrifices, that turns them from dross into gold. And when our gifts are devoid of this love they are unacceptable to God just as Cain's was, even if it is of the finest gold. And so it is as I gaze upon this picture and many others from little children that I find joy and hope for mankind. These are truly more precious to me than any priceless painting in some museum.I wish to thank all the little children who so love me, and send them my love and blessing.

Her Doctrine and Morals

St. James, Apostle

25 July 2010

The Sunday

Dear Friend,

St James and his brother John were the sons of Zebedee. It is their mother that we see in today's Gospel petitioning Christ that these two sons be given high places in Christ's kingdom: one on His left and the other on His right. It appears that perhaps these two sons had put their mother up to this task, because Christ does not speak to the mother but to the sons. He asks them if they are prepared to follow Him in His suffering. He informs them that He cannot give them this position as it is reserved to the Father to assign these positions.

And in today's Epistle St. Paul tells us some of the suffering of an apostle. The life of an apostle of Jesus Christ is one that closely follows Christ's, especially in His cross and suffering. The Apostles "were men appointed to death" . . . "fools for Christ's sake". A worthy follower of Christ will be hated by the world, will be deemed a fool as Christ was, etc. But, the height of glory is in dying for Christ as He has died for us. There is no greater love than to willingly die for the love of God. St. James suffered martyrdom in 42 or 43 AD under Herod Agrippa.

St. James along with his brother St. John and St. Peter were the three that were present to see Jesus at the Transfiguration. Perhaps this is what occasioned their holy ambition. In any case this was to strengthen them all for the attacks that were soon to follow.

This petition of the brothers was rather disturbing to the other apostles and it is on this occasion that our Lord instructs them on the need for humility. The greatest in the Kingdom must become the least. And thus we see proud and worldly ambitions men transformed into humble and spiritually ambitious men.

In this humble spiritual ambition we find the apostles now vying for the last place here on earth so that they may attain the first place in Heaven. Now, with the grace of the Holy Ghost they fear no earthly power, or suffering, cross, or even death. On the contrary they now whole heartedly embrace with love and look eagerly forward to everything that will allow them to follow Our Lord in His suffering. Martyrdom is no longer a punishment but a reward. Death is not an enemy but a friend.

The cross of Christ which appeared to the rest of the world as foolishness and became a spiritual stumbling block to them became for the Apostles wisdom and a ladder into Heaven.

The cross is now the foundation which our spiritual life is built upon. It is the starting point or the key for us in meriting our eternal reward in Heaven. All men must bear crosses, but only the spiritual one bears his cross to find eternal glory. The worldly who fight and resist their crosses are not relieved of their present crosses and find greater and eternal crosses in Hell.

It does not matter whether we are steeped in sin or free from sin, there is no escaping the cross. It is obvious that those who have offended God must have a cross of penance to make reparation for their sins. Unless we take up our cross daily and follow Him we will find no rest for our souls. Only when we accept the sufferings that are our due will justice begin to be approached so that we will be made worthy to receive the blessings merited for us by Christ's suffering. Unless we approach beneath the cross of Christ with our own crosses, the mercy and grace of God will never fall upon us.

But, we see even the Blessed Mother standing beneath the cross. How is it that it was necessary for her to carry a cross and stand beneath the cross of her Son? The Blessed Mother who was without sin, preserved even from original sin, found it profitable to carry her cross of pain and suffering. And she did so willingly and lovingly. It must be that for us to merit God's grace we must conform ourselves to Him. And even the most perfect of His creatures _ the Blessed Mother _ found it necessary to imitate and follow her Son.

The only hope for us is in likewise taking up the cross and following lovingly our Lord Jesus Christ. The only path to Heaven passes directly through Calvary.

St. James and the other Apostles and saints throughout history have all taken to heart Our Lord's admonition to become the least and thus they have merited a high place in Heaven. Sadly most people today shun and fear humility and the last place rather than cherish it. What will be waiting for them in eternity? If the last will be first, then logically those who sought the first place here on earth will be the last in Heaven (That is if they make it into Heaven at all.)

The beauty, glory and joys of Heaven are real and worthy to be desired with our whole being, but they are only obtained with the works of faith. It is foolishness to believe that we will be rewarded for doing nothing. St. James and His brother desired a high place as an unmerited gift, but Our Lord shows them and us that there is a price to pay if we are to receive the blessings of Heaven. The highest places in Heaven are reserved to those who are most in conformity to Jesus Christ. Both St. James and St. John followed Jesus in suffering and death. The two brothers that were here on earth are now two brothers in Heaven.

The Blessed Mother was innocent like her Son and bore her life of sorrows like and for the love of her Son, and so she drew the nearest in conformity to Him and thus holds the highest place next to Him. So too, all the Apostles and saints now in Heaven _ each holds that station near to Christ in glory as they held near to Him in suffering while they lived here on earth.

It is good to desire Heaven but is necessary that it not be just a dream, but a goal in which we work to achieve it by daily taking up our cross and drawing nearer and nearer to Christ in every thought, word, and deed _ and especially in every cross of humiliation and suffering.

I am absolutely amazed at how many people seem to be shocked at how communistic the United States has become.

Just think about WWII. We fought against every nation and power that was trying to fight and stop communism and fought side by side with the communists. After the war we handed much of Europe to the communists on a silver platter.

In 1958 a man named Cleon Skousen wrote a book called The Naked Communist. In this book he outlined the communist plan for the complete takeover of the United States - here is a summary:

1. U.S. acceptance of coexistence as the only alternative to atomic war.

2. U.S. willingness to capitulate in preference to engaging in atomic war.

3. Develop the illusion that total disarmament by the United States would be a demonstration of moral strength.

4. Permit free trade between all nations regardless of Communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war.

5. Extension of long-term loans to Russia and Soviet satellites.

6. Provide American aid to all nations regardless of Communist domination.

7. Grant recognition of Red China. Admission of Red China to the U.N.

8. Set up East and West Germany as separate states in spite of Khrushchev's promise in 1955 to settle the German question by free elections under supervision of the U.N.

9. Prolong the conferences to ban atomic tests because the United States has agreed to suspend tests as long as negotiations are in progress.

10. Allow all Soviet satellites individual representation in the U.N.

11. Promote the U.N. as the only hope for mankind. If its charter is rewritten, demand that it be set up as a one-world government with its own independent armed forces.

12. Resist any attempt to outlaw the Communist Party.

13. Do away with all loyalty oaths.

14. Continue giving Russia access to the U.S. Patent Office.

15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States.

16. Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights.

17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers' associations. Put the party line in textbooks.

18. Gain control of all student newspapers.

19. Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under Communist attack.

20. Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policymaking positions.

21. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures.

22. Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. Skousen claimed that an American Communist cell was told to "eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms."

23. Control art critics and directors of art museums.

24. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them "censorship" and a violation of free speech and free press.

25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.

26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as "normal, natural, healthy." Skousen claimed Communists sought to encourage the practice of masturbation.

27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with "social" religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a "religious crutch."

28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of "separation of church and state."

29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.

30. Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the "common man."

31. Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of the "big picture." Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communists took over.

32. Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture—education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc.

33. Eliminate all laws or procedures which interfere with the operation of the Communist apparatus.

34. Eliminate the House Committee on Un-American Activities.

35. Discredit and eventually dismantle the FBI.

36. Infiltrate and gain control of more unions.

37. Infiltrate and gain control of big business.

38. Transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to social agencies. Treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but psychiatrists can understand or treat.

39. Dominate the psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of gaining coercive control over those who oppose Communist goals.

40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity, masturbation and easy divorce.

41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents.

42. Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special-interest groups should rise up and use "united force" to solve economic, political or social problems.

43. Overthrow all colonial governments before native populations are ready for self-government.

44. Internationalize the Panama Canal.

45. Repeal the Connally reservation so the United States cannot prevent the World Court from seizing jurisdiction over domestic problems. Give the World Court jurisdiction over nations and individuals alike.

Now I personally believe that the author of this book, being a member of the John Birch Society, the LDS (Mormon) "church", and a member of mainstream conservative think tanks was likely corrupted and became a instrument or dupe in all of this. Still, his 1958 layout of the communist plan to takeover the US is like a checklist and has been followed to the letter.

How can anyone be surprised by the state we are now in?

We have very little solid information about Saint Mary, and both scholars and traditions differ on the interpretation of what we do know.
She was a friend and follower of Jesus. Filled with sorrow over her sin, she
anointed Christ, washed his feet with her hair. He exorcised seven demons from her. She was visited by the Risen Christ.
There are also arguments about her life after the Crucifixion.
The Greek Church maintains that she retired to Ephesus with the
Blessed Virgin Mary and lived there the rest of her life.
French tradition says that Mary, Lazarus, and some companions came to Marseilles, France, evangelized and converted the whole Provence region, and then retired to live 30 years as a penitent hermitess at La Sainte-Baume.
Oh, some things we do know for certain - Mary wasn’t Jesus’ wife or mistress, she wasn’t the mother of His child, she didn’t found a royal dynasty or separate branch of Christianity, et cetera, et cetera, ad nauseam.
the Greek Church says
she died in Ephesus of natural causes
her relics were transferred to
Constantinople in 886 where they remain today
French tradition says
as she lay on her
death bed, nine angels carried Mary to the oratory of Saint Maximinus in Aix where she received Communion and then died of natural causes

Just came back from the IBO World Championships in Clarksville, Tennessee. I qualified for the $1000.00 shoot off (top 32 shooters shoot off) and made it to the last 8 and then made a mistake and shot a wrong target - that zero cost me a chance at a $1000.00!

I finished forth in my class in the 3D competition. I also qualified for the shoot off in the Pop-Up moving target Championship. I ended up winning that one and was awarded $300.00 in gift cards to Bass Pro-Shops and $100.00 to Tradtech Archery/Lancaster Archery.

Then I was even further blessed by winning a $300.00 print and frame in a drawing.

It was a really fun weekend.

The video clip above is of me on the right and the other finalist (who is a world champion pop-up moving target shooter) in the final round. The way it worked was that there were several targets all laying flat on the ground and they would randomly pop up for a brief period of time and you had to shoot them. If you dropped an arrow it counted as a zero, if a doe came up and you shot it you lost 10 points and there was a moving target that rolled across the range.

The video is not great and it seems like it is going slow - but at the time - it seemed like everything was happening very fast.

My brother Tom also came and shot the best he has shot and is very close to becoming at top ten shooter. I believe that he also had a very good time.

Just thought I would share the fun we had.

Welcome to Amerika!

Growing Number of Prosecutions for Videotaping the Police
Prosecutions Draw Attention to Influence of Witness Videos

PrintRSSFont Size: Share:EmailTwitterFacebookMoreFarkTechnoratiGoogleLiveMy SpaceNewsvineRedditDeliciousMixxYahoo That Anthony Graber broke the law in early March is indisputable. He raced his Honda motorcycle down Interstate 95 in Maryland at 80 mph, popping a wheelie, roaring past cars and swerving across traffic lanes.

Anthony Graber was arrested for posting a video of his traffic stop on YouTube. But it wasn't his daredevil stunt that has the 25-year-old staff sergeant for the Maryland Air National Guard facing the possibility of 16 years in prison. For that, he was issued a speeding ticket. It was the video that Graber posted on YouTube one week later -- taken with his helmet camera -- of a plainclothes state trooper cutting him off and drawing a gun during the traffic stop near Baltimore.

In early April, state police officers raided Graber's parents' home in Abingdon, Md. They confiscated his camera, computers and external hard drives. Graber was indicted for allegedly violating state wiretap laws by recording the trooper without his consent.

Arrests such as Graber's are becoming more common along with the proliferation of portable video cameras and cell-phone recorders. Videos of alleged police misconduct have become hot items on the Internet. YouTube still features Graber's encounter along with numerous other witness videos. "The message is clearly, 'Don't criticize the police,'" said David Rocah, an attorney for the American Civil Liberties Union of Maryland who is part of Graber's defense team. "With these charges, anyone who would even think to record the police is now justifiably in fear that they will also be criminally charged."...

Welcome to the New World Order!

Her Doctrine and Morals
Eighth Sunday after Pentecost
18 July 2010

Dear Friend,

We are all stewards and debtors. This is a profound truth which very few ever realize or accept. I find that most people are so absorbed with the concept of freedom that they never perceive the shackles chaining them. No matter how powerful, or rich, or popular — we are all stewards and no man is absolutely and autonomously free. Only God can be said to be free as He cannot be bound or constrained by anyone or anything. Yet, even He chose to take on our humanity and thus the same slavery as us.

God took upon Himself our nature with all of the suffering and penalties that this nature of ours deserves due to its rebellion against God. The penalty for our sins has been suffered for in the most innocent of beings _ Jesus Christ. Jesus became a prisoner so that we might be able to go free. Though He is God He came as Man and not as a free Man but as a slave to do the will of His Heavenly Father. This too is our calling _ to do the will of our Heavenly Father and not our own will.

We can do nothing about our position of servitude, but on one hand we are free to choose our master. And this is where many are deceived. They follow the lie that: "it is better to reign in Hell than to serve in Heaven." What fools, to think that they will ever "reign"; yet this is the extent of their blind pride and vanity. And the devils are glad to let them believe this _ at least until they are securely chained in Hell.

Those who are not foolish enough to openly serve the devils are usually easily trapped into serving their own lusts and passions and deluding themselves that they are not Satanists. Again the devils are just as pleased with this slavery as any other, and it has been said that they prefer this type. These make the best slaves of all because, they serve the most willingly. The devils do not care what illusion their slaves are under as long as they remain their slaves. So if the slaves wish to believe that they are their own masters, the devils are happy to comply as long as the slaves continue in their service of Hell or evil. Or more simply as long as one is not serving God, he is serving the devils.

As we cannot rise above this servitude of ourselves it behooves us to make a wise choice for our master. Either God or the devil is our choice. The other options of the world, our passions, etc. are only illusions for serving devils.

The devils promise us happiness here and now but require us to suffer an eternal misery in Hell. God promises us an eternal happiness in Heaven if we will only willingly and lovingly take up our cross and burden now. This choice is very simple: a temporary pain or an eternal one; an eternal happiness or a temporary illusion of happiness.

As with every servant we will eventually be called to give an account to our master. Those who have chosen the devils for their master will find an eternal payment of suffering in Hell. And the more faithfully they have served the devils the more miserable will be their suffering.

Those who have chosen God for their master will find an eternal happiness in Heaven. And the more faithfully they have served Him the more pleasant will be their happiness.

On the other hand there is truly only one Master and we can only serve or disobey Him. Just as we are not true masters even of ourselves, and our passions are not true masters but only dupes of the devils, so it is that the devils are not true masters but only impostors who will only lead us into greater disobedience to the true Master.

All that is, and all that we have, and all that we are belong to this Master _ God. The devils only pretend to be masters of this world. Ultimately God will put them in their place and all will be put back into right order.

So it is to this Master, God that we will have to give an account of our stewardship _ no matter who we think we are serving. All that we are and all that we have has been given to us by Him and we will have to give an account for it on the Day of Judgment.

Now we have all been forewarned just as the steward in today's Gospel. And just as the steward in today's Gospel we have squandered our Master's gifts. And on this Day of Judgment the time for working will be over: "To dig, I am unable." The time for begging will be over: "To beg, I am ashamed".

Now is the time for us to learn from this steward and become prudent. Not that we are to imitate the evil deeds of this man, but that we should begin to plan out ways to save ourselves. Seeing the judgment that hangs over our heads we must realize that: now is the time to beg for mercy in our prayers; now is the time to perform works of penance; and perhaps more importantly, now is the time to give alms. Not latter, not just before the judgment, but now is the time for these things.

In giving alms we are taking what God has given us and distributing it to others who are in need of it. This is what the steward did in today's Gospel. In reducing the debt of each of his master's debtors, he gave away the goods that his master had entrusted to him. This "stealing" from God is good because this is why God has blessed us: so that we might bless one another with what He has given us. The goodness that we show to others will be a testament in favor of us at the judgment. And in this manner we will have made friends with the passing riches (mammon) of this world. We will have freed it up to do what God created it to do, and we will have secured for ourselves an everlasting dwelling.

In this we will realize that we are no longer servants but we have become His children. For His children willingly and lovingly serve Him, whereas the servants serve Him unwillingly and through compulsion rather than love. This is our calling: to rise from being the rebellious traitor servant, to the good servant, and then ultimately to become true children of God.

In case you haven't noticed, there has been very little activity on this site lately. I don't know what Pope is up to but for myself, to add to all of the tricks of the devil that he's been pulling lately, our computer was infected with a nasty virus. Our son clicked on some stupid site and there it was. So I'm using a back up computer that is as S-L-O-W as it comes. I have NO patience for slow computers and to add insult to injury, it doesn't let me post most of the stuff that I want to post. I couldn't even post the Sunday Sermon - it just wouldn't let me copy it or paste it!

So with that in mind, I am going to suspend all activity here until after the ordination. Many of our readers are going to share in this most wonderful day and won't be here anyway.

One last request, please go to Brother's blog site which we link to and listen to his sermon from today,. IT IS DYNAMITE! This young man is going to make the most wonderful priest!

Well, its really here.....!!!! WHOO-HOO!!!

Psalm 109 - The Lord has sworn and will not repent - Thou are a priest forever according to the order of Melchisedech.

Her Doctrine and Morals
Sixth Sunday after Pentecost
4 July 2010

Dear Friend,
Let us consider the virtue of temperance today. We see that a multitude was fed in today's gospel. The meal was simple bread and fish, and no mention is given concerning drink. With such simple and common food it seems safe to say that they did not over indulge.

The dangers for us to indulge in intemperance are much more severe. We frequently have a lot of food and drink and quite varied food to stimulate us to often eat more than necessity requires.
Among the substances used in intemperance, we might also add to food and drink: tobacco, alcohol, drugs (both legal and illegal), etc. We have become a society that is insecure unless we have something in our mouths. Look around, it seems the majority have to have a cigarette, bottle or can of some sugary drink, alcohol, chewing gum, etc. constantly in their mouths. This vice often becomes addictive or compulsive so that many eat and drink without any need, or thought of why. And thus many people sink lower than brute animals who do not consume more than they need.

In fact, we miserable human beings have invented ways for us to continue to indulge our appetites even when our bodies tell us that we have had enough. How many digestive aids are there available for us today to ease the discomfort from overindulging? And how many today follow the Epicurean practices of purging to allow them to partake of new excesses?
The ugliness of this vice though is only the beginning of a train of filth and destruction that it brings into our lives. Aside from the physical destruction of our health and life, there is the far more important spiritual destruction that takes place.
When we are constantly full we are never fit to work to our capabilities. On the contrary intemperance leads to a host of other vices such as: sloth, envy, impurity, etc.
St. Paul reminds us today that as Christ has died so we too have died to sin by our baptism. We have renounced sin and thus have willingly died to so many of the gross pleasures that our bodies and the world hold out for us.
Yet, this death means that we must daily crucify this flesh of ours over and over again so that we may truly be said to have died to the world and our bodies; and then we can rise gloriously with Christ.
Considering that Our Holy Mother the Church has established two seasons of penance (Advent and Lent) that emphasize fasting, it seems apparent that in fasting we hold the key to overcoming ourselves, the world and the devils. Fasting indeed was employed many times by Christ for our instruction. Some devils cannot be cast out by prayers alone but must be cast out with prayer and fasting.
We also have the lives of so many saints who practiced austere fasting. (Austere, at least compared to our present laxity in this regard.)

St Augustine who after his conversion often ate very little (mostly pulse and herbs) often feared lest he overindulged in anything. And today we seem to have made a religion out of eating; making a god out of our bellies (or perhaps our tongue and pallet.)

And so if we will not deny our stomachs it only stands to reason that we are rendered incapable of denying our bodies any other pleasure. The drunkard and the intemperate lose all will power not only destroying their bodies but likewise their souls. Their rebellious bodies that are now overcharged with food and drink seek to find pleasure in impurity, finery, games, entertainment, etc. and find no pleasure in work and even less in spiritual pursuits.
It is obvious that many physical ailments today are due to intemperance which weakens and sickens the body. But far more troubling are the spiritual ailments besetting us today. Many claim that they have no will power. They have lost the ability to pray without distraction, or to curb illicit passions and desires. And though prayer helps, it is rendered much more productive when penance is added to it; and perhaps the most beneficial penance that we have ready at hand is that of voluntary fasting.
As we learn to fast for the love of God we will find greater ability and strength to practice virtue and avoid vice. And step by step in this dying to ourselves we grow more and more strong and alive in Christ.

36 And behold thy cousin Elizabeth, she also hath conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her that is called barren: 37 Because no word shall be impossible with God. 38 And Mary said: Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it done to me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her. 39 And Mary rising up in those days, went into the hill country with haste into a city of Juda. 40 And she entered into the house of Zachary, and saluted Elizabeth.
41 And it came to pass, that when Elizabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the infant leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost: 42 And she cried out with a loud voice, and said: Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. 43 And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44 For behold as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy. 45 And blessed art thou that hast believed, because those things shall be accomplished that were spoken to thee by the Lord.
46 And Mary said: My soul doth magnify the Lord. 47 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. 48 Because he hath regarded the humility of his handmaid; for behold from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. 49 Because he that is mighty, hath done great things to me; and holy is his name. 50 And his mercy is from generation unto generations, to them that fear him.

Eternal Father! I offer Thee the Precious Blood of Jesus, in satisfaction for my sins, and for the wants of Holy Church.
God even loves this man - and He chose to wake him up with a very appropriate punishment:

Christopher Hitchens, the author of such famous classics as God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything and other atheistic nonsense books has esophageal cancer:
Christopher Hitchens has suspended the book tour in support of his bestselling memoir "Hitch-22" after receiving a diagnosis of cancer. According to a brief statement by Hitchens released today by his publisher, Twelve, Hitchens says he has received medical advice to undergo a course of chemotherapy on his esophagus. "This advice seems persuasive to me."
The suspension of the tour was first announced yesterday, though at the time Hitchens' publisher stated only that Hitchens was unable to travel for "personal reasons."
There's a strong linkage between esophageal cancer and smoking and alcohol consumption, according to the National Cancer Institute. Though Hitchens' statement doesn't identify any cause, various blogs have already jumped on that linkage, pointing out how the well-known television commentator, author and Vanity Fair contributor is as well-known for the trademark drink and cigarette in his hand as for his provocative views.
A Washington Post profile earlier this month mentions that Hitchens tried to kick smoking a few years ago, only to return to it under the pressures of completing his memoir. In a recent review of "Hitch-22" for the Los Angeles Times, Douglas Brinkley described the book as an engaging, entertaining mixture of nostalgia, polemic and literary reevaluation by a "rapscallion iconoclast."
